Hollywood wants Somali actors for the Pirate movie. Audition in Minneapolis.

It makes perfect sense that a movie featuring Somalis would come to the Twin Cities looking for talent since so many of them live here. "Capt. Phillips," which tells the true story of an American freighter attacked by Somali pirates, will hold auditions for actors and non-actors from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Brian Coyle Center, 420 15th Av. S., Minneapolis. You don't need to make an appointment; just stop by with a non-returnable current photo. There is no fee to audition.

 

Casting agents are most interested in black applicants who were born in Africa; men between the ages of 15-45, women between the ages of 20-30 and boys 7-10. No experience is necessary. The film, produced by the team behind "The Social Network," has snagged Tom Hanks for the title role.

 

No, Mr. Hanks won't be at auditions, so leave your Wilson volleyballs at home.
