A Pilgramage to Maydh

Recommended Posts

Naxar....I'm not sure who's being hateful.

Alpha....When all else fails, play clannish card. If it makes feel any better, the story of the other Arab Sheikh that came and impregnate local Somali women is ridiculous as well. These so called Sheikhs coming to native lands is recurring stories all over the Muslim world that has little base in reality. Perhaps due in time, gene mapping and research into the origins of Somali will dispel these fairy stories.

Che, Arab sheikhs did come to almost all the known Muslim world of today, no? Also, those Arabs who came intermarried locals. From Malaysia to Indian subcontinent, and all the Muslim Africa, there are people who claimed Arab ancestry or trace they lineages to specific Arab Sheikh. And Somalis claim is no accident. What if the this "gene mapping" you have talked about takes the Somalis back to Arabia? Then what? Since there is no historical evidence out there that can refute these claims, then let them pay their due visit to their tomb of choice.

Are being naive or what? So if other people in other countries claim , Then Somalis have right to do the same? and how do define where half of the popular to claim to be Arabs? BTW there is no denying there were Arabs used to come to Somalia, and properly intermarry, but the level millions claiming to be from those Arabs is not logic and very much questionable. At the same time, there were Africans, Europeans, Asians, who also came to Somalia? How many Somalis have u seen claiming to have roots in Central Africa? You can not be a better person or better Muslim if you wrongly claim to be an Arab!,It is time to embrace who you were, and drop this nonsense.

And I agree with Che, once these false stories are debunked, many will say goodbye to those fake shrines!

Xaaji Xunjuf is right the tomb existed even longtime ago.

The original photograph of Sheikh Isaac's’s tomb at Maydh taken and issued the stamp by the author Christopher Claxton, British Somaliland in 1957.
