Mashallah indeed, all the work is being done by Somalis from Kilil5 and even some of Somaliland are helping to, but haters want to make it seem that the Tigrey are building this for us. Alhamdulillah after the UWSLF talked to the diaspora everyone started sending money back (before they didn't out of fear that their businesses would be burned/looted by the Ethiopians), the diaspora is also building a 5 star Hotel for diplomats and business people inshallah.

As for the other post, I don't think we're ready to call ourselves Somali Ethiopians.

Honestly, I hope you guys are kidding with posts like

The Somali Region of Ethiopia is developing rapidly.

All the work is being done by Somalis from Kilil5

Firstly, this project was done and financed by the Kuwaitis. The UWSLF has nothing to do with but rather using an NGO Arab deeds to mask the crimes and heavy underdevelopment of the region. The Somali region is the most undeveloped region in the whole Ethiopia.

It seems you people are disconnected by the reality of the Somali region. The hardest region to do business in Ethiopia is the Somali region which is heavily policed and crimes against humanity are being committed on the general population.

It’s actually not good news that Diaspora is building hotels. This only shows that the wealth from outsiders are the ones bearing the fruits from their welfare pay checks in a miserable place. Not one has mentioned the drought that has plagued the whole region this year along with the Food/Water AID blockade on the region.

What happening in the Somali region is nothing short of a genocide

The UWSLF has lost its soul and sold it for a cheap short political and monetary gain.

What do you want us to do? Fight Ethiopia whilst begging the UN to recognize us and free us, we have to know who rules the world and we have to play this game smart. We should control the army, police, business in that region. In all those years what did the ONLF do? Besides, when have you seen something being build in Somaliland/Puntland/Kenya by people that live there? It always comes from the diaspora.

Let’s dispel the numerous lies in this post,

You don’t control the anything, let’s be frank here. Every decision made in the Somali region is approved TPLF not the ESDL. The army and police is controlled by TPLF/Tigray completely while TPLF has a strangle hold on the banks of things as well as telecommunications. There isn’t a single thing Somalis control in that region. It’s pretty much like Apartheid South Africa, where there is a mirage of progress and development for the majority, when in a fact; they are oppressed and denied human rights.

No Muslim Somali is going to break into the Christian Tigray circles.

It’s easy to attack the ONLF; they were once part of the political process and followed all procedures before. So the political option has failed the Somali people in that region. If anything, ONLF is still the only democratically elected entity in the whole region, while rest of the so called elections in the region has been a shame. ONLF took up arms in 1994 and started a real insurgency since 2000. It’s a relative new force which has numerous tactical successes on the field. If it was a failure, Ethiopia/TPLF would have been exploiting the region resources to benefit their 6% Tigrays.

What has the TPLF done for the Somali region? This government has had power for nearly 20 years, yet Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world and still has millions on emergency aid. Today alone, in the Somali region there are hundred of thousands starving, this is directly on the fault of Ethiopian government not the ONLF. Since TPLF has come into the region it has brought nothing more than war, starvation and disease to the region.

The Diaspora has done more for the Somali region than government in Ethiopia and majority of the people ardently support ONLF. So practically ONLF and it’s supporters are developing the region not ESDL.

Nobody said the struggle is finished, but its time to grow up and stop believing in this 'indepence' dream of yours, not aslong as American and the UN are still standing. We should join our hands with the ETHIOPIAN OPPOSITION like Ginbot 7 to change the situation in Ethiopia, Amhara, Oromo, Sidame and Somalis are opressed by one group. Its time for that to change. We should instead of talking about whats going on in SSC and Xamar, focus on whats going one in Dire Dawa, Jimma and other places.

Please, tell me exactly, how you will change the political landscape of Ethiopia through a peaceful means. Haile Selassie was moved by force, Derg was moved by force. So I suppose, unlike TPLF, the rest should put down the gun right? That is a defeatist mentality right there, with the right pressure the TPLF can be removed

Look at what happened in 2005? The people gave the political option a chance, only to meet with a brutal crackdown. So it’s quite obvious that a peaceful removal is not ideal for this regime. And what about the crackdown in the region? It’s seems that you are blind to it. No foreign media is allowed in the region and AID is restricted at the height of a DROUGHT.

The Somali region isn’t the only region which has an armed struggle, from Tigray(TPDM) to Oromo(OLF) and EPPF. It isn’t possible to deal with a genocide committing government.

Exactly! But people don't want to bring down the government, they want to make an own state, this will guarantee that we shall not unite with the Oromo and Amhara oppositions.

Thierry, why dont you tell us what diffrence a one clan entity(ONLF) can make in a multiclan inhabitated area(Somali Region). And do you really belief

ONLF can unite and free the Somali people, when it cant even unite its people to support ONLF?

It seems that you are a Tribalist and trying to link ONLF to a one tribe for some odd reason, when you are well aware that it’s a multi dimensional clan based entity. This organization has support in numerous Non-Og terrority and non-Og people. No one sees the ONLF as a clan based ground, as evident in the last election they participated winning the majority vote comfortably. If ONLF was a political group today in the region, they would win the vote.

The people in the region support ONLF, it would be impossible to open in such a vast large with the sentiment of the public.

Instead of blaming the ONLF through clan based eyes, ask yourself why are they taking up arms?

The TPLF has power now for 20 years, yet there are regions without proper schooling and proper irrigation. The people are faced with immense collective punishment during droughts and women and child are routinely abused. However, your solution is to support TPLF and lay down the arms. Yet the TPLF didn’t lay down arms against Derg, but ONLF should.

ONLF and their supporters have done more for that region than UWSLF and the so called government has.

Mon frere Thierry,

I did not link ONLF to one clan, the name does. which is ****** National Liberation Front. That clearly suggest the name of a certain clan.

And you claim that ONLF has support in numerous non-Og territory and has support from non-Og people. Well, I dont know about that. I only know they dont have even support from all Og people.

^Waryaa Qajac Qaldaaan, O'gadenia is the other name of Western Somalia whether you like that or not. It is a simple fact. And like Thierry said, no place in this world got its freedom by surrendering, neither will Og'adenia. Midda kale just because your people were welcomed there in 1988 when y'all were fleeing from Somalia doesn't mean you actually have lands there LOL. The refugee camps of Daroor, Gaashaamo Bari and Harta Sheekh don't count as districts. On another note, the ONLF have a very strong support from real non-OG western Somalis (not your folks who live in Daroor temporarily) in Liban and Shiniile zones.

Calling names won't help you to free your land nor does it help you in the debate.

Back to the topic. ONLF does not have the support of its own people of who many

participate in the Somali Ethiopian administration and who control almost the entire region.
