Summer Research Experience- 2005

 

A 10-week research experience supported by the National Science Foundation in collaboration with the National Society of Black Engineers is being offered in the Summer 2005. Your research experience will take advantage of the nanotechnology resources including our new state-of-the-art facility Duffield Hall located on the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, NY.

 

Your experience will include:

 

· A two-day hands-on immersion into the field of Nanobiotechnology, learning the tools and processes of microfabrication.

 

· A team-based design and build experience that will focus on creating devices which mimic biological phenomena

 

· Weekly seminars that cover topics in ethics, intellectual property and opportunities to share your latest research results with your colleagues

 

· Networking opportunities with scientists and engineers in the exciting field of nanotechnology.

 

REU students receive a $3800 stipend and we will pay all travel and living accommodations. All undergraduates who are rising juniors or seniors and US Citizens or Permanent Residents are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to NSBE members.

Technical Training

 

P.E. Mock Exam, sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)

Take a sample of the professional engineer (PE) exam in this 3 hours mini course. Attendees are briefed on the basics of preparation, test strategies, and self-assessment. The details of how to apply for the exam are also explained. In addition to the test preparation, professional engineer career opportunities will be discussed.

 

Project Management Foundations, sponsored by United Technologies Corporation

Project Management Foundations is a "hands on" learning experience designed to provide industry terminology, a 5 step methodology and basic tools and techniques needed to master project management.
