See you if cant hear any beeps , seeing the memory counts on the screen or the keyboard lights glows during the booting process(Post process) then it must either the ram or VGa/SVGA ..etc but as u said the computer is not working or showing any message on the screen then I recpmmand you to check the power supply n see if it,s installed properly.

SAMIIR, I need you to answer my questions first...

I want to know what it was you did before you last turned your pc off???

Did you over use your harddrive space, if so, what did you do, how much space did the documents u saved contained, or was it some type of a software u loaded into your space, if so, I still need to know the file size???

Did you open an email the nigh you last used it, and did it contain some sort of a virus, if so, you will have to reboot the entire system and clean out your entire harddrive, but even if there was a virus and u didn't know about it, you should have had the screen popping up, regardless..

IF non of these questions apply to you, I would need you to check your screen, see if it's properly turned on, if so, try to restart the computer by either pressing the restart button or by shutting it off and then starting it on again...EITHER WAY, IF YOU CAN't SEE ANYTHING ON YOUR SCREEN, THEN IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OS OR SUCH...CHANCES ARE YOU HAVE AN OLD SCREEN AND IT LITERALLY DIED, THE STORE I USE TO WORK WITH HAD CLIENTS THAT HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND IT WAS A DEAD SCREEN...JUST LET ME KNOW WHAT IT IS, BUT ATLEAST THEY COULD START IT, BUT U CANT...WHICH IS AN USUAL...

PS: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AN IT SPECIALIST TO BE FAMILIAR WITH YOUR PC, THESE PROBLEMS ARE RARE BUT SOME OF THEM ARE COMMON AS WELL, IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT U KNOW AND WHAT U NEED TO DO TO FIX IT...

i got your points thorouhgly and i appreciated it. my computer was not affected by virus due to the fact, if the virus Hypothetically affected the computer, it should have started up and gave display because we have experienced lots of computer with the Virus and still working. therefore the virus only deletes the files as well as folder rather than causing computer not to start up. let me give you a brief introduction to my system, so that you can analyze the problem and decide what to do to fix it

the space of my hard disk is about 40gb, 128mb RAMm, BuntiumIII Intel processor. the entire documents saved ont it are about 10gb and the latest Philips monitor as well.

what do you think would cause my computer not booting up.

LazieGirl i have turned on the monitor while i had previuosly tried to start the computer. think about it and come with the proper answer to solve this unstructerd problem. additionally i had met lots of problem but rather i have never come accross like this. i was wondering if you can do some thing to it thanks .

NP. Lazygirl i professionally studied Hardware and MCSE as well. i have fixed many computer with a different problem but i have never seen any computer like this.

This sounds like a power supply (PS)issue. If you have another one lying around, pull the PS out and plug onto the defective w/station. It is possible your PC had a 300 watts PS which reached the end of its life cycle. Perhaps you want to purchase 350watss or better yet 400 watts which should not cost you more than 39.00 usd.

It is also possible that your videa card is either not lodged in correctly, unplugged or had failed you. Try the power supply first.

Let me know if that does not work.

With troubleshooting there has to be common sense and logic that should be used to detect problems on a pc. When troubleshooting there are a host of problems. As for the gentlemans PC not booting, starting or even starting but not showing anything on the screen maybe due to many reasons. Simple logic tells you to start with checking the wires (Power, Mouse, and keyboard) are well connected.

Check that the power cable on the PC is working and doesnt have a fuse blown or else you will have a long long time before you realise what the problem is.

Make sure the Mouse are the keyboard is in the right place as in some case the computer wouldnt start if they arent in their respect order.

If that is done check that the VGA is set properly as this is may give you a blank screen if not installed well.

Some power supplies do have a switch behind them ..make sure its switched on before starting the pc.

If all that fails, check the power supply itself and that could be done by replacing it with another of the same kind. If that fails then it has to be the memory. Check if the memory is settle in properly and that there is no dust around it. Check too that the different IDE belts are in place too and different wires supplying power to the motherboard are in place too.

If all the above fail then your motherboard is probably fried and needs replacing.

hope that helps.
