Meles links Somalis to Kenya attacks

Recommended Posts

"People are beginning to recognize that al-Ittihad is indeed a threat linked to al-Qaeda"

What else would an etho minster say.

"He offered no evidence to substantiate these views".

Thats very intersting smile.gif

"But with senior US officials due in Addis Ababa next week, Mr Meles will have every opportunity to convince them that the group had a hand in the attacks".

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm perhaps negotiate some potential deal (forerign Aid, militray add?, Water :D ) in exchange for somethin the americans require about somalia.

"The prime minister was speaking after his return to Addis Ababa from the United States, where he said he had DISCUSSED SECURITY MATTERS with President George W Bush."

lol BOLLOCKS who gives a **** wot he thinks.

Growing threat

The attacks on Israelis in the Kenyan port of Mombasa have reinforced Ethiopia's long-held belief that Somalia is a source of instability throughout the region.

There are thousands of Somalis in Kenya

"Ethiopia has frequently warned about the dangers posed by the obscure al-Ittihad group."

But no one has seemed to have reported about its contnious support for warloads and independant interfrence in somalia.

The BBC report continues :

The group is seen not only as a threat to Ethiopian security, but - because of its links to al-Qaeda - as a cause of international concern.

Before the Kenyan attacks these warnings tended to be treated with some scepticism in the West.

Now, says Mr Meles, they are receiving greater attention: "People are beginning to recognise that al-Ittihad is indeed a threat linked to al-Qaeda."

I mean how Transparnt is this attempt to try and win some form of favour from the west. The indians are certainly doing the same claiming the same about pakistan. So to do the jews, but wot else would they say. The russians aswell against the Cheychans. The list seems to grow quartely.

I just dispare when reading such articles, because regardless of the validity of them the is no credible oposition to them, which in a way makes me understand why the ethoy govt would do so.

wE ARE NOT wE but uS (NORTH,SOUTH, PUNT,SOMALILAND).

dIvided we stand and aLone we will continue to fAll, in the process suffering all sorts of problems @ teh hands of our enemies.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has said he has indications that a group operating out of Somalia may have been behind last month's attacks on Israelis in Kenya.

People are beginning to recognize that al-Ittihad is indeed a threat linked to al-Qaeda

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi

Mr Meles told the BBC that the Somali group with links to al-Qaeda - known as al-Ittihad - may have travelled to Kenya by boat to carry out their operation.

He offered no evidence to substantiate these views.

But with senior US officials due in Addis Ababa next week, Mr Meles will have every opportunity to convince them that the group had a hand in the attacks.

The prime minister was speaking after his return to Addis Ababa from the United States, where he said he had discussed security matters with President George W Bush.

One of the most remarkable things about the United States' global war of terror is that it allowed every Karzai, Meles and Yeey, who would, under any other circumstances, toil in the criminal underground where they belong, to claim statesmanship.

Tragic as that fact alone is, it is above and beyond the millions of innocent lives that were and continue to be senselessly wasted in the name of an elusive boogie man. :(

Meles should be the last person to criticize some else of attacking, especially, when he had illegally invaded Somalia.

Its kind bewildering to know that a terrorist, which has blood in his hands, a dictator, which rules one-sidedly, a destroyer, which destroys lives plus property has even the overconfidence to point his blood-dripping finger at innocent people.
