New Democractic Somalia

Recommended Posts

Peacenow

I'm more optismistic now than before. That Somalia, might have turned a corner. The people are truly sick and tired of the constant bloodletting. A new government of some kind will emerge and that by default, we should lose the tag of a 'having no government'.

Only by good governance and the rule of the law, will we ensure that Somalia will be strong enough to deter and defeat any foreign interloping in our affairs.

Watch carefully the next few days/weeks for the direction they take.

What the TFG must do now.

1) Ask the Ethiopians to leave as soon as possible

2) Create a new government that is inclusive and with respected people in them, including women ministers.

3) Create a timetable for fresh elections in the future

4) Show good intentions, by helping Somalis in need, suffering from starvation.

5) Arrest the warlords and put them in court to be judged by war crimes by the people.

6) Open talks with Somaliland

Everything is possible. It all depends on the good intentions of the TFG.

Democracy is not possible in Somalia so long as clanism holds sway. You can get away with it at the local level but the national level for the river banks will burst. Further, for democracy to work you need majority of people with commons interests that are worthy of preserving and building building something on. Clearly this is not the case in Somalia. The shared interest is clan fealty.

What a silly analysis!

Sxb,You really expect democracy in Somalia to blossom when the man who handpicked this combination of warlords govt has refused to democracy in his own backyard?

Furthermore,if i remember correctly this is a weak govt that used force[The Enemy of somalia actually] to grab what it couldnt do dimplomatically for 3yrs and then come to a "Unfreindly" ground to try to rule? Silly analysis indeed.

And oh yeah before i forget,Fck the xabashi and their backers
