Mogadishu can become beautiful again, and no need for the cries lads. You supported wars, warlords and fake clan courts against the TFG. The TFG under Yusuf have outplayed everyone.

As for Somaliland, there needs to be no war, they are not aggressive nor do their admins harm the locals. It will be dialogue and dialogue and it will be a long while beofre we have any agreement.

This is the time for the south+ Puntland to start a long process of healing and economic foundation building.

Somaliland will be left for future adminstartions.

Well put ,,,,,,,,,

JC, how is prepation going on there? I hope you guys are not just sitting, lol Siad Barre was overthrown by USC, the credit goes to them

Not preparation ,,,, we already know the results :D

JC: Are you saying the USC was created by Somalilanders? Thus can one say the SNM was created by the SSDF?

As I have said there is no trouble between the TFG & Somaliland. None other than mere words.

The Duke,

There is difference between taking part in creating something and inspiring it.

The SSDF inspired all the soup of letters that followed including the SNM and the USC, however the SNM took huge role in creating the USC.

Tuur and Silaanyo went to India to get Aydiid as I heard to lead the newly formed USC. They took big part in setting up the USC, arming it, financing it for the first few years. Even when the Barre forces tried to make second attempt to capture villa Somalia, it was Tuur who delivered ammunitions to the USC.

I am not saying or justfying all these doings as though they were good, but that is little back ground history 101.

All in all, we know who fought Barre forces the most, who suffered the most, and who for the most part took the largest burden of the wars against Barre, they were non other than the SNM.

Elysian

You must be kidding me to even hinched slight bit. Somalilanders have one thing in common, to defend and to lay their lives on the line in order to secure the peacefullness, tranquilty, soveirnty of Somaliland, is there any doubt about that. When you have large population wiht such iron determination and bravery, I don't think any can do a peev, history teaches us that Somalilanders have the will and capablity to overcome almost anything thrown their way. What does that mean, no worries. smile.gif

He is a loser. Thusly he will be remembered as such! Sadly his loses are not merely his, but ours as well. History well record him as a man who could not control his greed for power and did not know when to stop; that he was used by the enemy of his land; that he was able to cut a deal and compromise with Ethiopia but was unable to do so with his fellow clansmen…. his legacy of detaining the country for Ethiopia and misinformed western intelligence folks, will require a concentrated effort to overcome. How long I don’t know…it took 150 years? for Algeria, 80 some years? for Egypt…65 years? for Palestine and still counting…about 4 years? for Iraq and is till counting …

^^^An emotional outburst. Great men are known to bring such emotions from people. Yusuf legacy will not be written by you saxib. It will be writen by the Somali people. Till then, he is a hero to those who want a functioning state. He is loathed by those who want to keep the status quo going.

So far he is a head of his enemies and has thus tamed mogadishu, the method many might not like. But those who live in comfort in the west have the pleasure to criticise. Those who live in the hell known as Somalia hope the President continues to deliver.

^^Emotion has nothing to do with it adeer. The man has no standing in average Somalis. What you and Him perceive as enemies is your fellow Somalis who happen to disagree with you politically. Those you deemed friends are your enemies. That you conveniently forget your history and the global context in which you operate does not take away the enormity of what has transpired.

History will not be kind for him if he departs this world with Somalia in its current state.

^^^ True. But if he manages to pacify Somalia (by force) and rule it, then, as was the case with a million bad men before him, history will be written by the victor (i.e Mr Yusuf).

^^It's not as much as ruling specific pockets in Somalia by force, as the case may be in Mogadishu, but what Somalia he leaves behind. If he manages to leave behind a relatively peaceful and politically stable Somalia, i would agree with you that he would be viewed differently by the next generation. But given how things are on the ground, i think the chances of that happening is quite slim...

Xiin, again you are not being rational. The Somali's will disagree politically like any other nation in the world. However you know the President came through an election held in neutral ground and contested by all his enemies. He then reached out and brought into his governemnt all those that oppsoed him, the warlords. Which many of you criticise. These same warlords turned against the governemnt and wasted time. The TFG has never attacked anyone without being provoked. The clan courts came to the gates of Baidoa and even tried to assasinate him. This was not political it was violance and murder.

The President has met with Abdiqasin, Ali Mahdi, Mohamed Jimcale, all previous political opponents He is willing to meet with anyone who will listen. This has never happened in the 16 years of war.

Again when the TFG defeated the courts it put out an olive branch to all. They were met by bombings and suicide attacks inside the city on a daily basis. When they overcame this threat again the President met with those who represented his enemies.

Saxib, Abdullahi has become the vehicle of change and as such will be hated, insulted but the record speaks for itself, he is a man on a mission to restore this republic.

He has done in 2.5 years the impossible. The defeat of all the armed factions and strengthening of his "fragile" governemnt. Again the method meets the madness that is Somalia.

It was under Yusuf governemnt that all those armed groups who opposed rational thinking were humbled. Thats half way story.

^^^ Looks like we'll just have to wait and see, saaxib. Xiin's reply there is perfectly true.

Dukow, and an interesting story it indeed is!

Mogadishu is being pacified but for whom? What political purpose do you reckon recalling toothless warlords serve? What is the national agenda? Who’s onboard with it? Puntlanders? Somalilanders? Other than Ethiopia and Bush, and perhaps Kenya, who’s sponsoring the Somali stability? Will the reconciliation conference be held? By who?

If the survival of the old man as a political contender is what grantees him a noble place in the history books, then I must concede that to you. If however his legacy and the consequences of the political choices he made and how they impact our future is what determines his destiny as a historical figure, then your delineation of his political maneuverings adds no value on that regard. It’s the result of it, in the long run, that will matter, and not the actions or the intent behind them adeer…

A. Yuusuf is pathetic loser, a rank coward and a traitor to his people. He never won anything without Ethio support. Somalis were and are better off without him and his poodle Fanaxey.
