Puntland Independence

Recommended Posts

I think it's time we gave the idea of declaring independence some real thought, the people in the south are maniacs who have no desire to see somalia succeed and are still stuck in the backward qabil mentality. For 17+ years these people could not make something of themselves.

The ethiopians presence is an excuse, most of them are opposed to A/Y being the president because of where he hails from. Even with UA or arab troops, the al shabab moryans would put on fake cimmad and kill innocents.

How long should we waste resources, soldiers in the south and on the TFG, when in reality it has produced nothing for us? Strictly from a practical point of view, what are the benefits of the TFG for us monetary or otherwise? Somali unity is something we all want ideally, but isn't better that we start building block approach, where everyone works in their regions, instead of being consistently held back mogadisho and the south.

South Somalia has no problem. Your uncle exported it onto their lands motivated by tribal avarice and power obssession. Stop blaming the innocent people of the middle and Lower Shabelle, the middle and lower Jubba and Banadiir.

If you are really serious about the independence, please proceed forward. Good luck with the spaaro and piracy. ANd with the barren fields.

And you said in another thread: " all seccessionists should be arrested". :D

p.s. speak for yourself: puntlanders want to be part of Somalia and they( the people) not all Ethiopian flag wavers, as the lads on here would have us believe. ;)

The people of Puntland are the flagbearers of somali nationalism and unity. Unfortuntely, a distinctive generation with SSDF mentality and rampant martydom complex have opted to put self-interst and revenge before anything else, and are holding the majority hostage.

This is rubbish idea. The people of the region have always been for the unity of all Somalis, nothing has changed. Even though things look bleak at the moment in the South, there is a very good chance of achieving lasting peace in the South. Whoever prevails in this conflict, there is no going back to the last 17 years of warlordism.

Indeed its not a great idea. Puntland is part of Somalia. All these issues are in this time and will be overcome.

Again its not a new idea and one does not need to take it seriously.

The people of Mogadishu were hostage’s through the 17 years. Aside from some minority individuals who we find in SOL, who once were appeasers of the warlords and who now make excuses for the crimes of the warlords replacements Al Shabaab. The majority of the people did not want to pillage rape or kill their fellow Somali’s nor even took part in such acts. They were victims, as they are today with the fake clan Jihadis sending mortars in their homes while making the same silly threats their warlord cousins did a decade ago.

Accountability, transparency and the removal of the old guard, we need an overhaul of the whole system and not pointing fingers at Mogadishu or Hargaysa.

Self reflection lads. As for the candidates I don’t think changing the faces will do anything we need deep reforms.
