When the Xabashis leave, which is probably soon, there will probably be competition(fighting?)between the Islamist militia and those who will join the TFG. No doubt there will millions of dollars(as there already is) will be poured to create and excerbate such a scenario. Though, I hope it doesn't happen!

Dhubad.

They should stop right there and consolidate their power, elect a leader and put their differences behind. As for Shariif he is becoming irrelevant now, he neither has a peace deal nor a tangible result on the ground.

These guys managed to route out all the ********s there is no a single road block from Baardhere to Kismaayo to Afgooye - four regions, that is amazing stuff.

“universal levels of support the Islamists enjoy in every city and town all across Somalia”

Perhaps people are just scared and don’t want any trouble?. It does not necessarily equate to ‘support’.

^ Though they have split into different groups they still wage the war together and help each other out so what they need is to unite under one name and take it from there..!

Lily, you might be right but at least this group will not loot and put road block in every alleyway. They are 110% better than those TFG M00ryaans.

We have already seen some fightings between Al-Shabaab and other Islamic groups ,, this will turn into a full-scale war among them if not prevented now. I'm sure they fight side by side now but things will not be the same of the Ethiopians go out and the tfg is ousted.

I'm sure there are many warlords among them.

Jilib, which is a major town not far from Qoryooleey was under another Islamic group, we don't know their name, but yesterday they banned Khad/Qaad altogether.

So at this moment, we don't have any information whether these are Al-shabaab or other groups, but Alshabaab are claimin the capture of those towns and cities.

This is indeed worrying, am afraid it would escalate and have wider impact on local peolpe.

Quoting NYT per verbatim huh!

Reading your rants here it is crystal that you did not synthesize what has taken place in Lower Shabelle and the overarching ramifications these events will have on the direction of the resistance movement.

Awoowe brace yourself to inaugurate Afghan-like mullah warlordism. Forget about Lebanonization! The era of religious factions vying for power is in. Afghanization of Somalia has not happen yet but boy are we closer than close!

If the upcoming gathering proposed by the so-called Culima leadership council does not solve the dispute within Islamist movement then we will see a full blown competition between the camps for the leadership mantle. Or short of that you will have fiefdoms controlled by Abu so and so. Remember you heard it here first.

Turki faction -- he has a camp in down under

JABISO faction -- share down under with Turki faction. The two supposedly share the same goals but have separate command posts.

Abu Mansoor faction -- has consolidated leadership position within Al Shabaab’s ranks after the Ceyrow’s demise. His group is the most powerful faction and receives the junk of the assistance from Eritrea and other sympathizers. Green dress is their trade mark.

IndhaCadde/Col Uways Camp -- looks like he’ll try to carve out his own fiefdom after Lower Shabelle’s loss -- probably inside Mogadihsu. He challenged Abu Mansoor’s numerous times but lost each and everyone.

Sh. Shariif Camp -- has a credibility issue with all other factions except JABISO.

They don’t share command post. They do not have unifying political leadership. Two of the camps are in loggerheads. Shariif is going it alone as his ideas of peace initiatives didn’t go down well with other factions. Oh boy!

Kelligii Muslim I guess you are not privy to the details of these events, right? Awoowe it does not look good. Top of that TFG is this close to split up to Yey-Nur camps. What a mess!

^^^good god Baashi mr. Kashafa supports all the resistance, but the most powerfull and effective one is Alshabaab headed by Abu Mansuur and Mukhtar Zubeir no doubt. That being said, worry not about mullah but worry about the whole Ethiopian army in your capital killing and harrasing the population.

On the topic:

Ups and downs through out this struggle. But one thing that Alshabaab has gotten right this time is that Southern Somalia isnt Muqdisho only. There are other areas and other lands that need to be liberated. Once these areas are cleansed thoroughly then it makes teh task of liberating Xamar cadey much easier.

Al shabab are hypocrite tuugo who mock islam, I have no idea how any muslim person can support these munaafiqs who have no long term for somalia.

When did suicide bombing and using innocent civilians as shields become part of islamic jihad?

I don't care for the TFG, but the al shabab are clearly the bigger evil between the two and any man or woman with a rational mind can see that.
