UN Human Rights Chief Urges Investigation

Our mistake as Somalilanders is that we never had the intention of taking over the whole of Somalia. The SNM should have had the same mentality as the TPLF and stormed the capital taken over the city and then made sure the Somali nation understand who is in charge. The SSDF/SPM were in no position to stop us and as for USC we could have dealt with them the same way we dealt with Afweyne's army.

Such a missed opportunity to take full control of Somalia now we have to contend with a never ending civil war. Sometimes you just have to risk it all and take power.

Countless people including former UN envoy Mohamed Sahnoun told them in 1993 to declare the government of Somalia. The Maakhiri delegates from Sanaag in 1991 at the  Burco Shir  told how illogic is have to two Somali governments in Africa in these difficult times. Some of those men were former diplomats and expereinced beraucrats. Finally, they even told them, " Let us declare we are the real Somali state and put up the blue flag. With the Mogadishu mess Puntland would have joined and the world would have recognized the Hargeisa government.

To rule Somalia you must have confedence and the vission. The men of SNM  had a village mentality. Ruling over few pounds in the Somali sea was enough for the angry men of SNM.. Go and research, even A/raxman Tuur told them how illogic it was to declare session . Today players are the same villegers who opposed the logic.

Also, add ,Abdullahi Yusuf mentioned in his interviews,  how he sent delegation in late 1990s, to Egal, I think it was to when Arta conference, about to begin,  and asked to, let us form a government, Somali Republic, Egal declined.

The secessionists were and still are radical, illogical and completely paranoid sharing anything with Somalia, and 11 years of illegal imprisonment,  had a toll on Egal.

Ina Yeey, was different,  he believed, why isolate yourself to Pl, while he can become president for whole Somalia .

Aideed was the ally for SNM and they were waiting for him to be president so they could work out an agreement. Aideed got betrayed by his own clan and the capital descended into civil war which I think the SNM were hoping for. So when they did declare independence the international community would buy our story and let Somaliland join the U.N. You are right, SNM didn't think things through and tend to serve their own selfish interests. We are cursed by Allah and we all know this.

No body 'betrayed' him. Kamaba tirsaneen USC and joined it late to lead the military wing. USC was led by the dadkii SYL ka tirsanaan jiray oona ku dhisay jabhadaan in Rome. People like Ismaaciil Jimcaale Cosoble, an avowed opponent of Kacaanka. He unfortunately passed away in Talyaaniga just few months before the fall of Kacaanka. Hadduu Ismaaciil Jimcaale noolaan lahaa, taariikhda Soomaaliya would have been dramatically different in the last 32 years.

My father was invited to shirka Jabuuti, but didn't want to attend. He left for cumra Sacuudiga weeks before dagaalka Xamar ka qarxay. He was stuck in Sacuudiga and went to Jabuuti in order to find a flight to Xamar. Abtidoon ayaa shirkaas ku dhawaaqay at the same time and asked him to chair. He didn't want to participate, let alone chair, telling them siyaasad 1969 ka fadhiistay.

However, Cigaal, for some reason and who didn't trust the competing sides pf qabiilada Caydiid/Cali Mahdi iyo Maxamed Abhir/C/risaaq Xaaji Xuseen and his folks, insited him to chair.

Cigaal and other SYL leaders were persistent my old man to chair the shir since he was the 'legitimate' leader of the last elected government. My father reluctantly chaired the shir. Alas Maxamed Abshir and co. immediately nominated Cali Mahdi since he claimed to be the one who was funding USC and used to be SYL xildhibaan back in1960s. He was also part of The Manifesto group that issued that famous Baaq.

Cigaal didn't like this haste arrangement, but his group was minority. Sidaas Cali Mahdina loogu caleemosaaray. My old man didn't really care, declined any position they offered and since he just wanted to catch the soonest flight to Xamar, he did what the majority at the shir wanted.

Remember, this shir did not have jabhado leaders present since they were not invited. Those who crowned Cali Mahdi badly miscalculated, assuming jabhadaha hubka dhigi doonaan. They didn't, especially Caydiid who didn't personally like and distrusted the old elites from SYL signatures of Manifesto. In fact maanifeesto became a derogatory word in Caydiid's Xamar in 1991-92. Any opponent of his were declared 'waa maanifeesto.'

Cigaal also went back to Hargeysa as a pissed off politician. That 'pissed off' is what was the primarily fuel of declaring secessionism. It was never a forethought idea, just another idea stemming from xanaaq siyaasadeed. They thought they can bargain for a bigger pie of any future government.

The rest is history.

Duufaan

Both USC and SNM sheared the mentality of winning the Somalia civil war after Siyad Bare government clopsed:. The USC tried to capture the whole country but was stopped in Galkacayo after they committed a huge massacre. In other hand SNM attacked Boorame and Ceerigaabo and committed a  smaller massacre. Then there was a peace deal between SNM and other tribes.

Since Abdilaahe Yusuf went to Moqdisho and became a president the USC mentality of winning of Somalia civil war lost it’s merit and now this day it’s  moqdisho and uunkaa leh.

For SNM, they captured Ceerigaabo and control the city even today. No one really challenge them,,except Buuhoodle. They still see themselves winners of the civil war. Biixi and Ina Kaahim are both leaders of SNM Militants and came  back as lebarators. There will be a new liberators this from Laascaanood and SSC which will change the demanatics in north Somalia. Which bring a lasting peace in Somalia. Where SSC goes, Somalia goes.

Galbeedi the best decision somalilanders. Ever made was to re declare our independence. There is nothing of value that somalia has that somalilanders want. Other then the two rivers ay iyagu xita ka qattan yihin Anigu garan mayo there are famines and they claim to be a lush full of agriculture. The koonfurians for the most part are just fake people jeeblayaal jecel iney beeso yar xattaan.

as for general aideed he has allot of respect in somaliland for he supported us in our darkest hour as we helped him during. Our days as the snm liberation revolution the likes of ibrahim meygag then snm secretary under the late Tuur welcomed him in baligubadle snm capital. It’s unfortunate that ali naafto was selected. The snm could have gone for a two state one country formula where are two systems but one country. Where are two seperate governments and one shared govt . President siilaanyo wrote such power sharing Formula but to bad waxaaso dhan Cali naafta ku xaaray. Hada iyo maantana maalin anu ka fiicanahay majirto . For most people in Somalia and some of the forumers  are all acting and saying with out landers Somalia can’t be or can’t exist  taasa hadaba bila confidence ah

I have heard what you typed a 100 times before so it is not news to me. What I said about Aideed being backstabbed is true. In Somalia the man who holds the gun has a voice too, your clan should have been mindful of this fact. As for the SNM they achieved their objectives by removing the Kacaan government from the north. They were waiting for some sane politicians to emerge in Mogadishu so a deal could be worked out. Like I said Somalis are cursed by Allah.
