Lets put romatic talk aside and talk about real issues....AFRICA THE DARK CONTENT

Recommended Posts

Why are we called the dark contenent. Why are we associated with Aids and uneducated and are called the poorest contenant in the world.

What can we do to change that perception? Just like india has done to change their perception of the world. Now india is respected for educating their country and having one of the best IT techonogy. The country is getting sourced to by america and britian for call centres.

Why how could Africa get in and take a peace of the pia.........what do we need to do?

I like to know how u really want to help somalia and the greater africa with your actions towards your future.

WHAT CAN WE YOUTH DO NOW......DO WE EDUCATE OUR SELF?

Why do u guys care which forum she posts.Give the sister an answer and let the moderators do their job.

Back to the topic.Africa has massive problems.Africa ranks at the bottom in every field u can think of.The only good news is when it comes to the lowest suicide rate, Africa is number one.But again it takes alittle bit of "thinking" to commit suicide or even better u don't have to commit suicide in Africa. The place is blessed with stuff that kill in any style u want.U can have the H.I.V style, takes longer than hanging u'rself but its better than death by diahorea.

Folks in Africa are either naive or simply dumb.Either way, we can't bail them out of their problems.Africa should quit on the whole "it takes a village to raise a child"crap.Don't u think its time the parents, rather than the village raised their own kids?

It is true, but Nigeria is not the only one. From the fulanis of Nigeria, to the Ndebele/shona of southern Africa they all do relay on the extended family alot more than is necessarily.Even Somalis they do that alot.Somali parents consider their kids as some form of social security. Dependability(is this really a word} is a common theme in Africa.

Charity begins at home.Parents should take care of their kids and not wait for the village to feed them.Africa relays alot on donations and handouts from the I.M.F and world bank. The average African thinks, its his right to get grants from the west.No wonder Africa is left behind like folks on welfare in America.

one word: Discipline

And the most valuable form of discipline is the one that you impose upon yourself! can Africa do that?

My impression from the whole situation (which I'm not even sure is very well informed) is that Africa is still reeling from the effects of colonial rule. It seems not to have just damaged their economy, but their collective mentality as well. It seems like the options most choose are those of extremes. There are those who see their continent as wonderful, refusing to acknowledge any serious deficiency and think they can sort it out on their own, and there are those who seem to think the country is hopeless, and therefore justifying their own corruption and theft of public money.

I think one way to start cleaning up this mess, is trying to get rid of corruption. It is not just an action committed by a few, it's the entire conciousness of the people that need to be addressed. Africa at the moment, is a free-for-all type of place. Or should I saw, free-for-a-few.

Certain governmental actions seem to concentrate on removing those few, but that doesn't help, when there are always people on lower ranks waiting for the time they get their 'share'.

These people lack long-term memory or foresight. They've probably grown up in poor households and most likely never want to return there. There never used to be many millionaire Africans, but now they think it's their chance to be one, as though this reaffirms their African identity.

Maybe our fellow Africans should stop thinking of wealth as a way of validating their purpose or identity. Maybe they need to restructure their collective conciousness in a more socialist way.

Perhaps this will end the large-scale corruption and allow the funds of these fairly rich countries to filter through to the public areas that sorely need it, such as education, infrastructure and health services.

I'm a bit tired, so I might not make much sense. But what do you guys think?

Culture Minister Christophe Muzungu said people should not just see the negative side of the king - they should also look at the positive aspects.

"We are restoring the history of our country because a people without history is a people without a soul," he said.

very contradicting statement-no wonder his name is MZUNGU  but on the other hand it is true-since they also say: you never know where you are going till you know where you have come from(or something along those lines).

That statue should actually be reformed-perhaps with some MENACING ghostly expressions or physicalites..with a dash of red paint to signal all the thousands of poor congolese he exterminated during his fierce regime...and perhaps put at the center of the town where tourists frequent or some kind of museum in europe...where horrific acts can be shown that will make one's blood bubble.. :(

NB: King Leopold's rule is considered historically to be one of the callous colonizing ever on earth. The chilling stories can be found in a book named: KING LEOPOLD'S GHOST-By ADAM HOCHSCHILD. I have read it and would recommend it to anyone interested(As well you can be enlightened. on USA's role in LUMUMBA'S death and the plot by CIA's to poison his toothbrush but all in VAIN-when he was murdered later in chilling conclusion).

I dont get it-many of us have grown up with extended families and that's the best life style a child can grow up in-yes I know some family sociologists will refute this as the best option but back home(in africa that is) but believe its the best familial cost-effective strategic child rearings I have ever come to witness(mind you with all the emotional, spiritual, physical, social and financial support the lifestyle entails). Not only is it practiced in African alone, but other parts of the world as well(especially in muslim countries where families are huge and extended).

I cannot even begin to expound on African being the "Dark Continent"-its a complex world and that is full of ruthless and corrupted leaders with the gullible victims at their mercy. Lord have mercy on Africa.

Have any of you guys read The Destruction of Black Civilization by Chancellor Williams?? if you haven't your seriously behind!
