This issue is complex, and personally wished more heavy weight positions, came from Maakhiri side and have a good final discussion before SL delegation.  not rush to any deal, The position put my Maakhiriis is great, and let us see if SL is serious, or just want to play time.

I have said it here, many times, SL value this place far more than PL, but how far they want to go and genuine honest discussion/negotiation,  it is hard to say. We all know what happened to Khaatumo leaders, who were serious in negotiating with SL.

The Maakhir people must come together and honestly re-assess their situation, PL has been disaster for them,  SOMALIA , NOw  shabaab  and rogue leaders in charge, nothing good coming from SOMALIA.

Still if Maakhiris in Sanaag go with SL, there is large chunk of Maakhiris in Bari/PL region.

Why not just set up another federal state?  There is not much to be gained economically and socially from joining either of these entities.

That is also another option,  with KHaatumo , we are eligible  under the federal  constitution.

The PL and SL has more seats in SOMALI Parliament, and the leaders have always been afraid of them , not doing what is right thing to do.

That's best the option. For Pland and Sland, reer Sanaag and Sool are means to an end.

That is just a pipe-dream. Prof. Ali Khaliif Galaydh reached the bottom of that pipe-dream and eventually came to the conclusion that there is no other viable option other than Somaliland.

For starters, any interference into Somaliland's internal affairs by Mogadishu will be regarded as a hostile intent and will basically bring to a complete stop the talks between Hargeisa and Mogadishu. Full stop.

"The Powers That Be" have special interest in the success of the talks between Hargeisa and Mogadishu.  Specially as China flexes its muscles in the region and Ethiopia sleep walks into "failed state" status. Hargeisa is ever becoming more attractive to the West, specially UK and Uncle Sam.

The fact is, these regions will remain within Somaliland - Hargeisa has time on its side. There is no rush at all. Eventually the leaders of these region will read the sign and the writing on the wall - which I think is starting to sink in now.

So you think that "setting up a federal state" anywhere you fancy is like setting up a teashop? The Maakhiri clan don't need to start a futile project from scratch which will only waste their time and resources. Instead they can get a lot more from Somaliland just by forming alliances with the other clans in Sanaag and demanding their share.

Why the  self style maakhir federal state will not work is simple u need two or more regions to be a federal state now.   Maakhir has half a gobol how is half a gobol going to be a federal state makes no sense  if that was the case hiiraan should have been allowed to be a state meeshu way walaantayay it’s. In maakhirs interest to be with their brothers and sisters in Somaliland it’s destiny
