Well done to the kids in Koonfur Galbeed and Galmudug. It seems the bigger the towns, the distraction for kids is greater. Hamar and Kismayo kids are not coming on top because of Tik Tok and being on facebook 24/7. It is a challenge facing kids everywhere in the world.

Maanshallah, kudos to South-West folks. Was the exam taken in Somali or Maay Maay?

I believe exams are in af Maxaa Tiri.

Afmaayga Afsoomaali ma'aha miyaa?

Reer Afmaay speakers can naturally speak and underdtand Afmaxaa if they want to because Afmaay is foundation of Afmaxaa. It is only when it comes to qowdhan verdion of Afmaxaaga that Afmaay speakers don't understand, same with the rest Reer Koonfurta hoose degan struggle with qowdhan version.

Are you saying that Af Maay version of Somali doesn’t have a written form? Or that it’s not necessary to have the exams in the written Af Maay version?

We are already fragmented. Let the 'Af Maay  be the Lingua franca of Bay,  but I wouldn't encourage for higher education because of the scarce resources.

In terms of the exams, let the best win just like Olympics.

Let the , South west be the champions. they deserve.

The so called reer qowdhan accent is the standard af somali of poetry and broadcast. No one understand pidgin may may language. Even the crazy mad mullah told your folks ama af Muslim la imada ama ku galeed.  Runta ha diidin.

Maay Maay in it's purest form is not closer to Somali than Af Oromo. I remember this lady I met in London who was struggling to speak Af Maxaatiri. The town people speak Somalised version of Maay Maay but the rural Bay and Bakool Af Maxatiri is alien to them.

So why the original word for camel - gaal - is maintained in Afmaay and not in Afmaxaa? All these clan and place names that have the prefix-or-suffix gaal, not geel.

Also what do you call 'friend' in Afmaxaa? Saaxiib? Carabi u daa afkooda, so what else do you call it? Amiiko? Talyaaniga u daa ereygooda iyagana. In Afmaay, it still has the original Soomaali word for friend - widaay. Careys Ciise Kaarshe used this widaay word in many of his saars, not saaxiib.

Your own amalgamate clan name with Reer Sool and Sanaag has a Maay word for nin ragga ah, so is the clan confederation name for Reer Xaayoow iyo Iljeex, which in Afmaay means dawn early morning. They didn't name their confederated name Waaberi, instead they chose the old Maay word. Many Soomaali clans have Maay words and names, which itself tells you that Afmaay is older than Afmaxaa, which in the last century or so was heavily influenced by Carabiga iyo Talyaaniga. Forget about the Waqooyi version of Afmaxaaga, with their beyd (ukun), daqiiq (bur), milix (cusbo), xamxam (musqul), digaag (dooro) and so on, most of them borrowed from original Carabi words.
