Allamagan, he will make some changes on US foreign policy(that was in his campaign rhetoric.) Will we benefit that? in some way we might, but I doubt if Somalia specifically is/will be a top foreign affair priority for him. If he makes some changes on the war of terror doctrine for example, that will have some affect on us, good or bad we don't know it yet.

Ladies and gentlemen you have just witnessed historic election. History has been made. Go buy NY Times or some reputable newspaper in ur neck of the woods and save it for posterity. This is history making feat this young guy has pulled off.

 

Emanuel is part of the coalition that made possible for Obama to be where he is in today. So he is a Jewish! I mean where is ur noodles?

 

The expectations are high, the task is a daunting one and you may not see an earth shattering policy changes in Obama administration but make no mistake buddy this was and remains to be a night all dark skinned folks will remember and cherish. My kids can see themselves on the mirror if you know what I mean. Ain't that alone something1

It is rare to see me crowing as such. But looking at things from Baashi's angle and seeing how America has changed in the past 40 years, one has to stand up and take notice of this great change (though of course I hold no hope for Obama turning out to be the great president that most predict). Be that as it may, here are a few quotes from bygone days to remind us all of how things were:

"We Shall Overcome" song used to be a protest song or an anthem of US civil right movement and it all started here. So now Obama being the 1st black president eveer in US. he gave african americans a new injection of self-belief and hope and to live the real american dream...

I have news for those folks, do not get into the police academy thinking that you are not going to be in contact with the opposite sex.

 

In addition, your brothers and sisters working at the factory have to learn the meaning of comprise. Accommodation of religious groups and ethnicity is a delicate subject, one in which needs well structured argument to be presented in a manner suitable for both parties.(the employee & Employer)

 

Negotiations are key, having an open mind about the outcome is welcomed. Therefore kasha, you and I know that somalideena are not reasonable people.(most)

 

The groups that look to making the changes need to change themselves. Yes, multiculturalism is an asset to the prosperity of the nation(s). That said, there are citizens that long been part of the process and they need to be inclusive as just the newcomers should be inclusive.

 

Human beings can accomplish anything they set their minds to it, therefore we need to teach our people to be part of the integration process. They can not fool themselves into thinking that they can make changes happen on their terms alone without some comprise on their part. If the african slaves could not achieve liberty and equality for as long as noted in the history books, what makes you think a farax can get it in a day or a week or a month?

 

Blacks were willing to be part of society and wanted to be accepted as human beings and they were told no, you will never be one of us. On the other hand, Somalida want no part of the white man's world, they just want to be accommodated while scamming the social programs that were designed to service the less fortunate. Lets be real, there can be tendencies of destructive force that is found in our folks and for that reason alone, they should be shunned and not praised.

 

We have to learn to respect the rules and regulations of the country that has welcomed us. I'm all for change and just reading Ng's post above, I too can't help think about Dr. King and reading "letter from birmingham jail" for school ages ago. The difference of reading that letter and the impact it had on my view on life is tremendous. If any of you have not read it, I strongly recommend it. The man was better orator than I have ever taken him for.

 

All in all, creating barriers and being social outcasts is not the way to achieving total liberty that would allow one to pray freely, and practice their faith as they see fit. Making demands does not get anyone anywhere. People, if you really paid any attention to Obama, then you know that change is needed but change can not happen all at once. Its a process, be a good citizen, know how the system works and keep in mind that whatever you are determined to change will happen as long as the law works for you and not against you.

 

 

PS: The Masjid Massacre was unfortunate, it was an evil act that was carried by evil men. To this day, I'm not convinced that axmaaro had a hand in that, if anything it was your militias that staged the act for the axmaaros, unless they themselves ay dadkaas gooraceen. Remember, you are not as open minded as you like to think because you blamed axmaaro without any evidence. I remember saying that we needed to wait for the verdict to come in, let an outside organization conduct an investigation and find out exactly what happened. This election would have been lost without the Latino vote. The Nation's top dimplomat post should go to a competent Latino this time. Obama needs to build a more inclusive team. Bill Richardson would serve Obama very well. He is a popular Latino governor with a good FP experience. He is the man who saved Obama when the Rev. Wright contraversy was killing him on the airwaves with a big, earth-shaking endorsement. The Clintons still haven't forgiven Richardson for that endorsement.

 

PS: Didn't Susan Rice screw up on that 3 AM ad gaffe during the primaries? I don't know if she is ready for prime time. She is also African American and this would seem rather odd to many folks out there. smile.gif

Susan Rice is one of the brightest people on FP around - I hope she gets a high ranking position in this administration. Hadn't heard about a 3 am gaffe. I like Billy boy too - he would be a good pick. I thihk Obama could sew up the whole Latino vote for good by passing a sympathetic immigration bill now that Dems dominate.

It has been the pattern for the last little while, to change political parties that have had the white house for 2 consecutive terms.

 

On to the issue of the cabinet,

 

Bama's chief of staff is a staunch pro-israelist zionist.

 

For those saying that it will be similiar to Clinton's administration. Do you remember a damn thing about Clinton's administration????

 

- It was Clinton's Administration that made the Bosnian muslims nearly extinict (arms embargo anyone? :rolleyes: )

 

- It was the Clinton Administration that got you folks on FLIGHT 13 from your lands.

 

- It was the Clinton Administration that cut off funds to the impoverished Americans.

 

- It was the Clinton Administration that made thousands of Iraqis starve to death.

Listening to Bill Clinton’s former Chief of Staff he claimed that Mr Emmanuel is hard to work with and would undermine superiors to further his goals. Now if this is true and Pres elect Obama wants to be a commander and chief in control how can he manage someone who will work against his interest. Bad move

Khayr, I think what you're failing to realize is that the last 8 years have offered a bitter sense of perspective on Clinton. For example, compared to Bush's war on Iraq, the oil embargo was practically benign. Compared to Gitmo, or the warmongering demonization of Iran (if you think Rahm is a Zionist, check out the credentials on the other side), the Obama administration will be a breath of fresh air. You want the animosity towards America to stay high, but the world really can't afford to, much as it might gall you.
