If Ofleh would have posted a qabiil website (reerawbakeyle.com or myqabiil.com) no doubt SOL moderators would delete it.

Why are we so sensitive about clan related stuff and when it comes to religion, we're understanding and open-minded. Where do you draw the line?

Lolz we somalis are from another bread/planet.

So its okey to talk about qabil or region of decent by some standards

Yet a forbidden fruit to acknowledge or a topic of taboo to touch when it comes to respect for others regardless of their beliefs. Its funny that we Somalis even though we live peacefully and co-exist with non believers of other religions and they have but welcomed us humble refugees and offered re-settlement. Its seriously shocking that we hardly even appreciate a single tinny bit of it, and simply believe that it was our family members that filled the sponsors or whatever scheme is it that allowed U/us to the enter the country. Does the fact that this country that have embraced U as one of its nationals, and respected for the love of human kind for U to worship your own believes mean a single thing apart from acquiring their Passport, not to mention providing health and social benefits that our mother country wouldn’t provide in a 100 years. I guess No, we still are big on critiquing the west (non believers)

Such is Life as friend of mind Use to say……

Cheers

Islamic Extremists Kill Somali Christian as Fifth Believer Martyred in Somalia in the Last Nine Mont

Source: http://www.assistnews.net

Date: 2008-07-29

By Michael Ireland

Chief Correspondent, ASSIST News Service

SOMALIA (ANS) -- Islamic extremists shot and killed a Muslim convert to Christianity on July 10, 2008 in Afgyoye, a town 18 miles away from Mogadishu, Somalia's capital. The victim's name was Sayid Ali Sheik Luqman Hussein, and he was 28 years old.

ICC (International Christian Concern) http://www.persecution.org says that on Tuesday, July 8, two Muslim men approached Mr. Hussein and asked him if he faces Mecca when he prays (Mohammed instructed his followers to face the city of Mecca when they pray). Hussein told them that as a Christian, he does not have to face a specific direction to pray because God is omnipresent.

The two Muslim men returned on July 10th armed with an AK-47 assault rifle and a semi-automatic handgun and shot Hussein to death.

ICC says Hussein's wife went into premature labor and delivered a stillborn baby upon hearing of her husband's murder.

According to ICC, Hussein came to Christ from Islam in 2004. He grew in his faith and started to evangelize in the community in which he was working as a teacher. Hussein's pastor described him as the most effective evangelist in his area. One of Hussein's students described him as the godliest man he has ever met.

Recently, Islamic extremists have intensified their attacks against Christians in Somalia. In the past nine months alone, five Christians, including Hussein, have been martyred for their faith. The other four martyrs are: David Abdulwahab Mohamed Ali, Da'ud Ali, Mohamed Yusuf and Hassan Mo'alim.

ICC's regional manger for Africa, Jonathan Racho, stated, "Somali Christians are paying the ultimate price for their faith in Jesus Christ. Despite the spike in persecution they face, they have chosen to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to the point of death. Christians should continue to pray and support their brothers and sisters in Somalia."

To learn more about the needs of Somali Christians and how you can help them, please contact ICC.

ICC is a Washington-DC based human rights organization that exists to help persecuted Christians worldwide. ICC delivers humanitarian aid, trains and supports persecuted pastors, raises awareness in the US regarding the problem of persecution, and is an advocate for the persecuted on Capitol Hill and the State Department.

^He could worship whatever he wants.

They make it sound like there's systemic, well organized campaign against Christians in Somalia. Anectodal stories that can't be verified one way or another shouldn't used as evidence. It seems this is an old story that's recycled every couple of years. If there are indeed Somali Christains, there is no proof that they are any more persecuted than the rest of the Somali population.

There is no doubt that each nation on the face of the earth has the right to implement rules and regulations to protect its identity, mission, and its society against any danger. And there is a penalty for those who leave Islam only in one case, if apostates endangers the security and interest of the Muslim community and cause harm and mischief in the land where Muslims live, and in such cases, only the Muslim ruler should consider them to be danger and threat to society and in this case the punishment will be implemented.

On the other hand, there is no harm in ignoring the apostasy of an individual as long as he or she does not harm the nation.

This reminds me of an incident that occurred in mbagathi before this sorry excuse for a government was built.

some flyers were strewn across the floor of the conference area .. demanding representation for somali Christians in the newly, to be formed parliament.

The response was that seats in the parliament were being distributed by Qabils .. so any Somali Christians should get in touch with their respective Qabils for their share.

Imagine somebody going to their uncle and demanding a seat on behalf of Somali Christians ... not likely :D

one of the applications of Qabil that had me smiling.
