What motivates you?

Recommended Posts

Looool!!!

Guys, of course I meant full bottle of jack daniels. The original cool sipping taste of Tennessee's finest whisky. My best friend in hard times and helper in down times. Some days its my breakfast, lunck and diner. In other days I prefer it to the company of friends. I turn down invitations to parties just to be with Jack Daniel. Oh..jack daniels so indispensible to my life at the moment. :(

I also suscribe to Jack Daniels philosophy.

But the motivational power of Jack Daniels is only 1/10th that of beautiful young woman. That is why finding a beautiful girl that loves you should be a top priority of every man.

Zeph,

the rot sets in :confused:

For me..it is lil bit weird..To be motivated I need an enemy, a rival/ nemesis/ somene to compete and destroy...

See the effect of watching Superhero cartoons and reading too many comic books :D

Seriously tho..I have to be under pressure and have a competition...

Cheers

I dont remember posting this, how odd.

Great story Baashi, thats right quiters never win, and winners never quit.

What motivates me, well too many people think I can't do the goals I share with them, and proving them wrong is always a pleasure, and also the fact that I never ever want to depend on anyone beside allah, I know I will always have family and friends but the feeling of total independence is great, alhamdulilah.

These poem also motivates me.

If you think you're beaten, you are;

If you think you dare not, you don't;

If you'd like to win, but think, you can't

It's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you will lose, you're lost;

For out in the world we find,

Success begins with a fellow's will,

It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are;

You've got to think high to rise.

You've got to hustle before

You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go

To the stronger or faster man,

But sooner or later the man who wins

Is the one who thinks he can.

STOIC

Baashi, this line really spoke to me, "Bills to pay, charity to send, family to feed, exams to ace, bosses to please, ideas to develop into fruition".Sometimes when i look back at the things i been through here and things i am going through, all i can do is say Alhamdulilah.Many times when i wanted to quit school in my sophomo year , i have been hitted hard by the late old man(Allah Yarahma) words of wisdom when he always said to me" be a man (mel iskasosar), have faith in your Almighty and remember everything is written down no matter what you do but you can always learn from it".Alhamdulilah, today i am on my last round of pinning that paper on my wall(IA).

Raxiima, every morning when i wake up, i praise my almighty for being so gracious to me.Whenever things got tougher on my backyard, i look solace in the words of Allah.I am currently working part time(30 hours/week) with full load of classes(15hours) and graduate school entrance exams to prepare for.Things are not easy but you don't need to give up like good Baashi said.

Baashi

I posted this poem twice and I'm gonna do it again! That's how much I like this poem.

Don't Quit (Poem)

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit -

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a fellow turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow -

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man;

Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor's cup;

And he learned too late

when the night came down

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems afar,

So stick to the light when you're hardest hit -

It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Love that poem Baashi, thanks again. I might print it out one day, pour some boiling water over it and sip away.

When I find myself out of motivation juice, I seek the company of encouraging people, read stories about achieving against all odds and write kick-up-the-**** letters to myself. I was about to do one now. Long overdue.
