According to villa AMISOM Somalia is Mogadishu

If you analyse the mindsets and behaviour of successive occupants of villa AMISOM, Somalia can be thought of as a city state. Everything revolves around Mogadishu. Any charity given to those in the infamous bunker is either spent on themselves or in their immediate vicinity. Other than the usual horrible news articles in the international media related to conflict and disaster in the regions, you hardly hear anything associating those regions with the government of Somalia. We often hear Somali police, Somali army, this Somali association and that Somali association, etc and the thing connecting all of them is that they are all Mogadishu based. How many times have you guys heard the words Somalia opens its first this and its first that or done this for the first time since 1991 although we are know that the regions especially Puntland has been having or doing these things since 1997?

Why aren't the regions complaining about this gross unfairness of the so called federal government? For instance, if the capital city were to move to Gaalkacayo, then which part of the city would the federal government spend donor money on? I am sure if it sent resources only on the Galmudug side Puntlanders would be up in arms, won't they?

Example:

The U.S. has donated 350 hospital beds to Somalia to bolster the fight against COVID-19 as the number of cases in the...

Lastly, we have in here a fellow called MMA who spams this forum with all things "Somalia", but guess what? Everything he posts is actually about Mogadishu!! This is the real life definition of the Stockholm syndrome 😁

But you didn't mention that only muqdisho is paying taxes and muqdisho port and airport are heavily taxed on top of that they introduced VAT on the restaurants and shops ,hotels.

THis city, MOgadishu,  had enough of hospitals, schools and everything else thanks to the aid given by Turkey, Qatar, USa and others.

The so called police of Somalia is basically the Banadir police, because they operate in MOgadishu only. You might see the minister of health fighting with Banadir region hospitals because he has nothing else to run than the local hospital.

It is one of the reasons Hassan Sheikh , Farmaajo and everyone else opposes the creation of regional Banadir administration.

Haddi dawlada gobolka banadir la sameeyo, maxay maamuli dawlada federaalku?

It is exactly what I am talking about. The FG has no business taxing the people of Mogadishu and interfering in their local governance. That is why I referred to Mogadishu as a City State like Singapore. One cannot be expected to consider the residents of Villa AMISOM to represent any Somali citizen in the regions when all they do is run the local affairs of their host city.

If Mogadishu believes this is a burden, perhaps the capital city should be moved somewhere else. You can't reap the benefits of being capital and then b!tch about it.

I personally vote for Baraawe and Baydhabo.

No city in Somalia can accommodate the federal government they don't have the capacity,

My issue is people assuming that muqdisho is receiving all the benefits but not mentioning that  muqdisho is also giving a lot to the government roughly 300 million a year.

The entire budget for 2020 Fiscal Year is 460 million, some of which come from direct revenue support from Turkey, Saudi Arabia. etc. That said, we should acknowledge Mogadishu does the heavy lifting but we should also acknowledge the airport and seaport is a transit hub for a lot of goods and people that are going to the rest of the country.

In terms of accommodation, any medium-sized city in Somalia can accommodate the government. The federal government ain't exactly huge bureaucracy. Besides, many capital cities have been built from the ground up.
