N&N bring back Hawo Taako - the Pro-Italian anti-British protester

So, to assume a socialist and nationalist Somalia of nineteen seventies would promote and resurrect a pro Italian woman is illogical.

Obviously, the Kacaan dressed her as a nationalist, when the actual history says otherwise. :D

In any case, a person with shoddy history like this, should not have been afforded such prestigious status as being featured on currency notes and provided a statue.

With regards to Ahmed Gurey, anigu ma maqal Oromo ayuu ahaa. Laakin inu reer Ifat (pre-Adal Islamic Administration of Saylac) ahaa war iskuma seegana.

Laakin arinka Maxamed Cabdille Xassan, taa runta ayaa laga sheegaya. Qofkay runtu dhibayso, yeelkiisa. :D

Taariikhda waa la saxayaa.

Is it me Suldaanka is defending or atleast justifing British colonialism?

And using the same language as Xaaji to describe British in the most favorable way.

What's this obsession with colonial powers?

LOL

M-Reexaan and Habro waging wars together. And you would think they would be nice to each other. Suldaaka, there you go, if we are to believe what Amigo is saying, Siyad Barre and  Farmajo have honored the family by raising Axmed's profile and honoring him with a monument in the heart of Somali Capital. Heck, I am sure Farmaajo will erect one for  Nuur Dheere and Xaaji Suudi, may we have to leave Sheywal Cabdi, H-Awal traitor.

And to be fair to M-reexaan,

Farmaajo will build one for Nur ibn Mujahid, the Master of the Second Conquest/Emir of Harar, a M-Reexaan and Gurey's nephew.

Adeer,

I do take with grain of salt in any copy pasted books which everyone can falsify these days. I have also seen books and documents that I read ten years ago appearing in the internet with totally falsified pages while deleting the original. didn't I say while ago that  you are a master on these  tricks.

I can assure you that in official  records there is no such thing as  Habar Magada with any  connections in Zaylac , Harar or the Adal wars  that stretched from  1500-1600. The Magaado are hawd people whose land is west of Hargeisa to Sanaag mountains. These wars took place between Zaylac, Harar, Diredhabe  Afar zone and reached south of Lake Tana in Coffa.

Why would somebody whose home is Togdheer , Sanaag and Saaxil, and reaching Ceelka Hargeisa  for the last 300 years or so, would associate themselves with  what was taking place in the Zaylac coast and Harar ? In the Adal wars, The Somalis were aided by other Muslims like the Afar, ottoman Hararis, and other ethnics.

We have known about Ahmed Gurey not because I. M Lewis wrote in 1980, but, it was passed to us by generations of people throughout the ages. Walaahi I knew who he was when I was a child 40 years ago. We even knew which sub clan of Awdalite he was. He is Abrayn, Maxamed Case,  from Zaylac coast where his brethren still  today. Neither You not others quoting foreigners will change our mind. You know the distance between Burco and Zaylac.

Ahmed Gurey is a son of Adal Sultanate. I have seen other Somalis claiming as one of their, but never heard about the Hargeisa and Togdheer Habro claim him. If that is the case, Why not  claim the Adal Sultanate to be yours?.

Wakhti ha iska lumnin Axmed Guray waa la yaqaanaa oo haddi aad u baahato aftirsiimadiisa yaan kuu soo raadin.

In all seriousness, the tragedy of Somalis is our small-mindedness. Men like Axmed Gurey, Sayidka, Sheikh Barsane and Nasiib Buundo fought in the name of Islam or in the name of their Somalis and fought against common. And history shows and no one Maryooley can deny, the armies they commanded hail from all Somalis. We can question their methods but their goals were clear.

Their history is Somali history!

Che,

Hadalka waad dhamaysay.

This men were fighting for the Islam--period.

There is a big difference fighting for your tribe or for a nation or the whole Ummah.

I don't need to debate these kids from the war zones.

You need not worry about matters such as Ahmed Gurey, for you are not part of this discussion.

Do tell us when they build a statue for Amina Boqor and your seedi, mudane Douglas Collin.

Oh how sweet, waa cunug caano loo diide, it looks like you could use a hug, come on Suldaanka, deal with the kid.

Waryaa Amigos,

Horta nin weyn la yidhaahdo been baad sheegaysaa. Waa ceen dhaqanka Suuban ee reer Somailand.

If Duriyada fought and were part of Futuhul Habash, that is good news. Waan soo dhawaynayaa.

I said , I was brought up as Ahmed gurey been an adali man , and despite what historian write , it doesn't change the fact that the man was Adali Sultnate man.

You have been bringing up a lot more dead people, only fair for your eedo and her, erm, husband, to be part of this discussion.

She has done great service to beesha, you should be proud of her 😁

You know, the other day,  your homeboy Suldaanka was commenting on Farmaajo's marwo's dress and you seem to have a fetish on for dead woman's personal life. I believe you have mentioned her name before in other posts. What gives? Something in the water in Hargeisa?

Axmed guray or Ahmed gran as the amharas call him referred the somalis as Soomaals excluding him self from the Somali. The bulk of his army  were mostly Somalilanders and he was born in zeila the first capital of walashma and the second capital of ifat. The mad mullah how ever is more controversial character he also a Muslim jihadi but he has killed more Somalis than he did  against the Europeans. From 1899 up to 1904 he led some battles against the brits. But after the ilig treaty it was a pure a camel raiding gang. They were more like the modern  Al shabaab.

We need to stop this unrealistic and never ending fights to find an over all hero for all. Since the Somali have never been under one state as far back as 1000 years to this date, and hero are made on an issue that affects most people in a state, its impossible to have common view on anyone except Poets, Religious leaders or intellectuals Ullema, etc.

Even in Ethiopia which at least nominally had a state, they do not have a common hero.

galbeedi,

My friend you are mistaken on one very fundamental issue about the war with Xabeshi. It was not a religious war. All the mini states of Hareri, Hausa, Zeylac and others had common peeve with the Xabeshi. Tax

The Turkish had battles in north Ethiopia through Eritrea and Sudan about a Gold mine. The Gold mine was owned by Turkish, but by permission concession to Xabeshi kings. Then the Xabeshi villages around under leadership of a Muslim Shiek (there is a village named after him), expelled the Turkish for mistreating workers and took over the mine. The Xabeshi king tried to take it, but was threatened. The Turkish tried 3 times and failed to take control of the mine and the area.

The Tigre and the Afar kings and Sultans refused to fight against their kins. So the Turkish found someone that can fight the Xabeshi and financed and armed them.

Still the Turkish did not control the mine and left the campaign and went home. As soon as the Turkish left the Xabeshi and Portuguese attacked and the campaign was defeated immediately.

All wars have something behind them.

BTW there is connection between Hareri and Xabeshi north (Tigray and Afar at least) The rest of Ethiopians and mainly Amxara accuse the Tigray/Afar for making Hareri a Kilil of about 20,000 while millions like Sidama..etc are only zones. The Hareri also were trying to use other alphabets to write their language, but then they chose to use Geez and they say its only alphabet that can be used to wrte the language and sounds fully.

Among the Somali fighters Ma-r-h were most violet and almost all church burnings and forced conversions were done by them. Others did not burn churches or convert by force. If you look at the map it will show you this fact.

It was not a religious war.

As for Ethnic identity and tribal leneage of the leaders, its all verbal or word of the mouth. The Arab writer wrote what the people around him told him, he has no way of investigating.

First casualty of war is truth.

The Afar, Argoba..were on both sides.

Adal (kingdoms/Sultanates) vs. Abyssinia (kingdoms) war would be fair name, otherwise the Portuguese and Turkish would have gained more than the locals.

Portueguese split with Xabeshi and the Portueguese were expelled since Xabeshi enemity to Catholics

Turkish and Ahmed Gurey split because the Turkish did not achieve their objective and Ahmed Gurey got entangled on Religious war that was not the obejective.
