Oromo Taking Over Addis

Recommended Posts

Quote

Dawud Ibsa, leader of the opposition Oromo Liberation Front, a former rebel group, told AFP that Saturday's celebrations would be "very significant" for Oromos who believe their claims to Addis Ababa have not been respected.

"This is our turn and a revival of what is taken from you," he said.

Irreecha has already been a political flashpoint in recent years.

Now they forced Abiy to speak against his base/support (anti-federalist hidden).

He had to agree with the Oromo organizations, because a call for him to go was planned on Irrecha.

The Oromo are now openly stating on TV and Radio in Ethiopia "The change has been hijacked by enemies of the Oromo"

Addis Ababa is one of the issues.

What If I was to tell you that Ethiopia with all its ethnic groups is far more united than Somalia with only one ethnic group but many clans. How ironic.

Ethiopia is always supported by every empire to stay in one country. Somalia is always discouraged by all empires to stay in one country.

Only exception was in the 1950s when the British Empire wanted all Somali (except French Somaliland) in one country.

Ethiopia had a core (Xabeshi) that by force or trickery kept the rest together. Somalis were never together in one rule.

Look at Eritrean Tigray. Afar, Kunama, Bilen/Agew Ethnics split from Ethiopia which has same ethnics people.

Look at Kurds who lost every opportunity to make a country by serving different empires and competing each other.

Look at the Chinese split in about 5 countries and dominating in each.

What is bad of Somali is that trying to establish one country when its impossible, and not trying or be absent when possible.

The Clans have sufficiently grown to be considered as equivalent to nationalities. Even some sub clans have outgrown the sub-clan category and have become equivalent to clans. The O is equivalent to what is called a nation. Its easier to co-operate between Os in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia than its within each those countries.

If China is the next world empire, one would hope that they might prefer to have Somalis in one country, but split hard to manage Ethiopia.

Hence why i said how ironic.

The Oromo will rule for years to come or Ethiopia will be just like Yugoslavia or worse Rwanda.

Former Oromia leader Lemma Magrasa and the current defence minister said that either Abiy will do his reforms and rule or will be disintegration and chaos. The ugly Amhara will get their own medicine if they keep pushing. THey are landlocked in Amhara region and soon Addis (Finfine) will be demographically Oromo, Guraghe and others including Somalis.

The Amhara better be quiet and get to the program. Oromo are 45% of the population, coupled with Affae, Somali, Benshenguli, Guraghe and others will win any election hands down. When I was in Ethiopia, I talked to Oromo, Amhara, Guraghe, Harari, Tigre and others, and everyone except the Wayaane wanted to keep the country together.

Believe me, despite the ethnic clashed and the sporadic communal violence, our faith and destiny is connected with Oromo. If they lose we will all lose, so, Mr.Somali nomad, follow your own interest for your own sake.

Agreed on the previous, but I think you are way of the mark on this:

Historically The Somali are to the Oromo as the Tigray are to Amxara. They share a few things, but as the Somali is sea faring, nomad, trader and the Oromo is hunter gatherer and farmer so are the Tigray and Amxara.

The Somali had writing system, first to accept Islam and everything that comes with it, The Tigray is the same among the Xabeshi for writing system, religion (both Christianity and Islam).....

Oromo will always feel threatened by Somali, even when Somali is not saying or doing anything, the same way the Amxara feel threatened by Tigray, even when doing or saying nothing.

In Todays Ethiopia Somalis and Oromo, Tigray and Amxara can never be trusting and reliable allies to each other.

Plus there is econmic issues that cannot make them allies.

You do not have to hate somebody not to be friends, its called conflict of interest.

Here is something you will find hard to believe:

ONLF in its many incarnations including WSLF..has never been enemy with TPLF. There is no reason to do so. Geography, economy, culture, religion (Tigray majority Orthodox and Somali Muslim are not accused or blamed for any relious conflicts in Ethiopia).

Both have something in common interest - Total autonomy -

Oromo and Somali can only be allies if one accepts subordination and no autonomy. ONLF and OLF have never worked together even a single day in 40 years. Consider that fact. What do you think the reason is?

Just how power has  Jawar became?

Galbeedi,

I would have to agree with our friend here, Oromo for any other Ethiopian group does not understand alliance. They always prefer subordination. The sooner we understand the better.

What sheer utter nonsense is this coming from our resident Tigray bot?

You expect to sell us here on SOL that Somalis and Oromos can never be allies but somehow your Tigray has-beens and the Somalis can, huh?

OO,  poor Tigray AI bot,  when will you learn?

Oromo and Somali cannot be allies because of the crimes oromo committed in the border areas.  Oromo are the savages of the horn and need to be dealt with. Even cagjar sees this and keeps his options open  and allies him self with amxara

You’ve said it. We have options and Somalis need to leverage that wisely.
