LOOL, oh god you need to attend a Sryian wedding and u well feel the real Operah.

Anyway, North, hope you enjoyed the Arabic sweets with the black thick coffee, baqlawa (baklava, qatayef, konaafa, and the most important the Maammouuuuuuuul (Dates or Pistachio).

Don't listen to the buyers, oh my god, they gonna witch you and let u buy from them. Any buyer will convince u that what he is offering you is the best, what a magic !!! LOOOL

and my best tip for your trip (gifts for your friends)

Go the art and antiques shops and buy those nice traditional pieces (plates, duggers, decorated linens, ornaments,,,etc) from the syrians. You gonna make a fortune if you sell it to the westerns and ur somali female relatives (specially the oldies) will love it for house decoration.

The syrians are so deep-rooted with the Arabic language and the arabic culture, they don't speak English, though the French is their second language. Also, they are still in love with Arabic ancient history. If you are chat with any Sryian, he must mention the Umayyad Caliphate in Damascus and the Andalusin.

If by any chance decided to go to Spain (Andalusia), you might discover that there is a huge similarity in the designs of Syria. Those who visited Spain (Andalusia: Granada, Seville and cordoba) and Syria, confirmed that the architecture & designs in Andalusia is a copy of the Damascene.

Ngogne : How was Baab El Xaara, I heard the second part was much better than the first?

Heard of Nizaar Qabaani :D

In Damascus again, this time for 8 months! I think i've captured the first ever protest on camera while shopping in Hamidiya, I was simply in the right place at the right time, or maybe wrong place, since all of them got arrested including some innocent people. It has been pointed out a few times how $tupid it was of me to follow them with a camera..! The way things are going these days though, I think im gonna stay the hell away from the crowds, don't really fancy getting shot any time soon.

Pictures soon!

People are still coming and going, it's not as bad as what the other countries are going through, and inshaallah it won't reach that state. Still, I wouldn't recommend you book that ticket just yet.. :)
