ExxonMobil and Shell set to return to Somalia

Recommended Posts

First of all, those companies sign with Kacaan government to work on the land , but they stop at 1991. Now they just saying Somalia is better place now we can work again!. Kenya wants to save money for their children in the coming centuries. If its mean steal what others own. Somalia inshalla will win the case on November and all somalis celebrities for our right on our waters. Ha nolato Somalia, dark ages coming to sawhalii people.

the only concerns I have shell under Qatar control . We should build our national company as fast as we can .

Houston is the capital of oil business in North America. Offshore drilling needs rigs and oil tankers taking the crude right there.

Latest i heard is that by 2020 drilling will start.

Waynu cashayn baan u malaynayaaye ha la is diyaariyo.

It is time

The worst time in my opinion.

Oil is bad even when you have somewhat stable government and country, but is terrible in the current situation.

You know that just one oil company French or British can raise an army in a month and start trouble or bribe some AMISOM country.

Drill baby drill!!!!!!!!

It does not look good.

1991 has all makings of oil companies

2005 ICU has all makings of water (ethiopia-egypt) and oil companies

Silly Somalis.😁

What makes you think that any right thinking person or company will invest in somalia anytime soon?

Old Observer is right on this one. Somalia still has a ways to go before peace and stability is restored for any serious investments to take place.

... don’t be fooled by the few millions that Nabad&Nolol are seeking to make out of the wandering prospector companies running around the place.

Well, you do not need to secure KIsmaayo , Baraawe or Hobyo. The Indian Ocean is safe. Small frigate can patrol the whole area to fend off pirates.

Turkey just sent a drilling ship off of the Cypress coast for drilling. It doesn't take much.

At peak production, Hibernia, in Newfoundland , Canada can produce 220,000 barrels of oil a day. The platform sits atop an enormous gravity base structure (GBS) that sits on the ocean floor. The GBS is specially designed to withstand the impact of sea ice and icebergs, and can hold 1.3 million barrels of crude oil in its 85-metre high caisson.

The Indian Ocean doesn't have any sea ice or icebergs.

Lol@ Galbeedi,

I like how you nonchalantly proclaim that it doesn’t take much and that it would only take a  “small frigate” to fend off pirates and secure the drilling platforms.

That maybe the case but pray tell us who will provide these frigates without Somali consensus?

I have always held the view that Somali resources are safe from exploitation as long as Somalis don’t reach a permanent political settlement that is acceptable to all Somalis. Until such a time, waa iska shimbirayahow heesa!
