The issue is very serious.

This Cumar Ghelle has confiscated over $128 million of assets owned By Ahmed Geele Arab. His car dealership, logistic companies and construction and media companies all taken over.

The bank that financed the Hargeisa water bottling company and other ventures want their from Ahmed. His assets in Djibouti have five more than the borrowed money. Cumar Ghelle and his family took everything.

Since Ghelle family had helped Muuse Biixi and Kulmiye financially , they probably demanded the handover of the business tycoon. Reports say that Ghelle and his wife had given the government an ultimatum to hand over the assets of the man.

Despite the powers Muuse Have , Somaliland isn't a one man rule dictatorship where Ghelle decides life and death. In Somaliland, there is public opinion, elders, parliament and tribal consideration that doesn't allow Muuse or anyone else to deliver this tycoon.

The interior minister tried to hide the issue . There might have been even a kidnapping plot to take the man from Somaliland without the knowledge of the people.

The interior minister is even trying to stop for the coastal people to develop the for agriculture. Since the land is prone to constant droughts , they tried to make agricultural settlement. The tiny Djibouti connected community cried foul and called for intervention. INa Kaahin arrested the elders and when the Saylici community met him he said" waar dagaalkan aad wadaan iyo colaadan reeraysani waa maxay" . different elders met him the next day from the same community and thinking they were the Djibouti folks said, " waar ma nimankii C..se ee la dhacay ayaad tihiin" they were shocked.

These and some other  moves are  to pander to Cumar Gheelle at expense of everyone else. THe Collusion between Djibouti and KUlmiye is dangerous for somaliland.

IOG runs a criminal enterprise that masquerades as a country. He already confiscated DPWorld's Doorale port, he won't have any issue to confiscated a private citizens' assets like Ina Osman Geelle Arabs or Ina Booreh's.

Ina Geelle Arab is doing very well in Somaliland. In fact, he donated close to 6 million dollars to Hargeisa Water Supply project in 2018. On top of that, he donated lots of money to water supply projects in Burco and Bali  Gubadleh.

Indeed. Maxamed Siciid Aw Geedi the drug dealer  has also been meddling in Somaliland region politics for a while. He was given a monopoly on the fibre optic cable (Somcable) which IOG and Khadra Xayd have shares.

That is doing good and also making a fence. Can be just to do good or can have added expectations.

This case has been boiling for long time now. When rich people fight the debris is everywhere. This fight has an added tentacles. Its in the palace as well not just in the bank and the street.

Somaliland is caught in a bind here:

Commercial laws

Trade laws

Banking and Financial transaction laws

Nomad's tribal unwritten laws of standing with your kin. Sometimes even when wrong.

Solution:

Somaliland ensures that the businessman will not do anything remotely political about Djibouti. In short he forgets there is even an entity called Djibouti.

Somaliland does handle the international part of the issue in the courts and out of court negotiated settlements

Everyone forgets the conflict ever happened and moves on never to do anything related to it. Ghelleh also closes the file and does not pursue it even if he is being nagged at home. The BOSS is a boss.

And he will not be arrested or hand over to this cheap criminal enterprise that is passing itself off as a State, which is what Djibout.

Djibouti is a mafia state run by a family. I if you open a shop and become successful, the family will visit you and give you an offer you can't refuse. They will take share by force or take the whole thing. It did happen to Djibouti people all the time. My insinuation of kidnapping is plausible because of the presence of Djibouti secret service in Djibouti and the denial of the interior minister to say that " as the interior minister, I should have known if this case is in the courts or within the Somaliland government" , yet today Muuse Biixi spokesman had contradicted him by saying that the case has been here since September 2018.

OO, you hit the nail on the head. It is all about politics. foks banks lose loans everyday and try to recoup the lose by targeting or liquidating the assets of the business. Sometimes businesses go bankrupt and the banks take what they can. Why would a French ambassador fly to Somaliland to find few millions while the assets of the company SKJ is in Djibouti.

The Toyota car dealership of Ahmed G. Arab are worth millions in Djibouti, so does his six floor buildings in " Guudka Djibouti". His logistics company that supplies the American base and other with millions of revenues. DHL and most of international logistic cargoes go through him. IF some of you guys remember Mikhail  Khodorkovsky,  who owned the biggest Russian oil company Yukos, he was arrested in trumped up charges and his assets taken over after he tried to challenge Putin.

Too freeze his assets and take over his businesses worth millions and then come after his investment in Hargeisa is pure political. In order to improve the water of the city and his water bottling company , he donated $6million to the Hargeisa water project.

Yet, the biggest fear of all is ,  he is a local tycoon who isn't connected to the ruling party of Somaliland, who in the future  might help or donated money to the opposition especially Waddani. That could be one major reason  Biixi and his boys are after him. I have no issue of Ahmed Geele going to courts in Hargeisa, but his lawyers must be allowed to go to Djibouti and get access to his accounts and assets. We might be dating or even trying to get some of the assets Somalis left in Mogadishu after 1991, but in Djibouti , the ruling mobster will take your building in a day light and operate as his own. Since injustice can't last , some day Djibouti might get rid off the despot and those assets recouped.

You can't not accuse someone for not paying his bills and freeze and confiscate his money and assets. Traditionally , the Djibouti clan that runs the government are not people who create business or build things. They have access to public purse and burn the money without creating any lasting or reliable businesses. Go check those who were Jigjiga or other Somalis who use and burn public money like drunken sailors.

Paying $10,000 dollar a month of his loans in Djibouti is a small and affordable thing thing to do for Mr. Ahmed Geele, but the issue is bigger than paying small loan. It is about a mobster family taking revenge against those who became successful despite his control. One single building of Ahmed Geele can cover two or three years of loan payment.

We might find out soon but it might also connected to the campaign. Those who financed Kulmiye with Djibouti money might want Muuse  to do the dirty work for Djibouti.

They supposed to defend this main with all their power since he is probably the largest direct employer of workers in Hargeisa. His Coca-Cola and water bottling company employees more than 2000 people. He is a nation building tycoon that the government supposed to work for his success. Ahmed Siilaanyo had laughed and rejected the Djbibouti request without any consideration knowing how the mobster Ghelle works.

The French bank gave the loan through the Djibouti assets SKJ of Ahmed geele, and it can sell and liquidate those assets which are more than 20 millions. The idea is to sideline this tycoon and punish him while using their political assets in Hargeisa.

As i said it will not happen. public opinion had spoken.

For the government spokesman to say that, " lacagta uu soo dhacay" knowing the millions the man left behind is stabbing the back of an benevolent local tycoon. It is a shame.

He supposed to say that Ahmed Geele, " lacagta Djibouti looga dhacay waa in qiimaheeda la ogaadaa".

You shouldn't be even opening the case before sending government  lawyers to go after Djibouti and resolve the case in Djibouti.

As soon as Ahmed Geele arrived in Somaliland, he dispatched Somaliland elders to Djibouti to resolve the issue and recoup his assets. He was willing to find solutions. Ghelle  refused to meet with elders. They went too far and went to See the Ciise Ugaas in Diradhaba, yet Ghelle said that if  they come to Djibouti again will arrest them.

The Guy decided to cut his losses and move on. Now they came after what was left  his assets in Hargeisa.

This mobster justice.

If you have any window to suggest a solution, I would say the following:

Have something that is not pleasant for the Don and also for Bixi

Send a personal friend of the Don to make a deal

Mr. Arap settles with maybe 10 or 20 percent of what he has in Djibouti with the condition that he forgets there is territory or country called Djibouti even for friend's chit chat

The Don ignores Arap in Somaliland and possibly Kililka

Something like that will work.

Those in Somaliland who are circling are only vultures trying to get a cut in the possible transaction. Public pressure and noise is enough to make these vultures fly away.

Mr. Arab is willing to cut his losses, but the DON want to destroy him . He spent $90 million to get Boreh. Biixi is the weak link here. He could tell Ghelle to let it go for the sake of Somaliland peace.

Perfect description. The Oromo and Somali are now bringing this method to Ethiopia. Since Eritrea is a one man government, the government does that daily. If you refuse they open shop beside you selling the same products, but no customs, no taxes for them. And they bankrupt you in no time.

Sometimes they stand police people in front of your shop as if somebody has been murdered and no body comes to that street let alone to your shop.

If the issue is between Ina Geelle Arab and the French bank, fair dinkum, the Court proceedings can take place in Hargeisa.

As far as business loans are concerned,  banks loan money based on indivitual's Collateral  assets that they take into security. At the time of loan, the French bank must have put its name to GSK's assets as being used as part of the loan agreement.

Since GSK's Djibouti assets (read the Collateral) has now been nationalised by IOG, then the French bank needs to go after IOG not Ina Gelle Arab.

The French bank may be is in bed with IOG. They need to come clean.

Somaliland Gov't needs to thread this carefully and not to throw its son to the sharks.

It is always better to be the big shark that can't be "thrown" around.

Somaliland may have the best government in the Somali peninsula, but the reality is that Laandheerism is still played in its halls of power. I like Djibouti as a country, but I believe this businessman is facing deportation today because he is from a minority clan.
