Dhagax-Tuur,

We’ve always known the unfortunate brainswashing of segments of our northern brothers and sisters have suffered would lead to such confusion and cries of betrayal, once the detoxification process begins.

However, what surprises me is how SOLers choose to sidestep the realities on the ground: 😀

Need I remind y’all that Somalia and Ethiopia share a conflict that remains unresolved — and in my opinion, will continue to remain so no matter what the two administrations in Xamar and Addis -for short term gains—might  have you believe.

These two countries in the Horn of Africa will continue their never ending belligerent and sanguinary struggle against one another until their border dispute is permanently and amicably settled.

Now you might all be wondering what all this has got to do with the seccesionist administration of Muuse Handaraab and his recent trip to Abiy?  Well to keep it simple, it all begins with and ends with the blatant and obvious quid pro quo that has taken place between Somalis and Abiy— and to some extent the dictator in Asmara.

Abiy’s desperation and need to consolidate power quickly is what drives him to appease Somalis and Eritreans in the Horn, and why he has signed peace deals with SomaliGalbeed and is even ready to throw Ethiopia’s once prized Trojan horse in somalia( the sessionist administration of Hargaysa) under the bus. Afterall, the last thing he wants is to turn Somalis against his nascent regime while he is still dealing with the Tigray and Amharas, who all want to come back to power in Ethiopia and put the ‘damn’ Oromo and Somalis in their place.😆

In any case, the Federal government in Mogadishu should move quickly and use this golden opportunity to bring Hargaysa back in from the cold. For you can never know how accommodating Abiy will remain if he succeeds in consolidating power in Addis.

Biixi will not be the one that sincerely negotiate the Somali government. He may looking  for the deals that Silaanyo got from Sheikh Hasan Mohamuud. It is unlikely  he got that from Farmaajo. Biixi and his family associated looted what ever Somali government properties left after Somali government clopsed, from Berbera port to military bases. Those mudug and Galgaduud  people who looted moqdisho government properties and Shabeele farmers will be angles to compared Biixi group in away. Past Somali governments invested heavily both Berbera and Hargeysa. One third of national army was based on western north region. Basically to defend Berbera and northern coast which closed to the boarder as well central region. Hargeisa alone there were five military bases. Except one, they are gone. The Russian and American built bases in Berbera  are no more usuable, every empty space is taken. What is unique here is the land is more expensive and government properties always located the heart of growing cities.  Biixi himself is biggest looter and there is no way he will give up any of that unless he grantees to keep it. His group is very much own Hargeisa and want to maintain the status of que. These are underlying issue more than claiming independence. At this point he doesn’t feel threatened but the changes in the region and world is effecting his business.

It is very obvious Mr. Bihi was desperate for any opportunity to meet with Abiy.

Somaliland's relationship with Ethiopia is based on two things 1. Economy and 2. Security.

In terms of Economy, it is the biggest destination for Somaliland's re-export market, worth more than 800million dollars. And in terms of security, Ethiopia being the largest army and economy in the Horn region, it is good to have a direct communications for the benefit of Somaliland citizens.

The one who is desperate is Villa AMISom, selling out 4 ports to Ethiopia without any due course. In fact, it was inked within 30 minutes of Abiye Ahmed arrival in Mogadishu. And also god knows whatelse he signed away. We know Abiye Ahmed is on the record of "bringing all horn countries under Ethiopian rule". It is not outside the realm of possibility that Farmaajo has signed away that too.

Right now, Mogadishu has no choice. They will need to tow the line, or otherwise Ethiopia will bring back the warlords.

I think, unless Mogadishu wakes up, they will be the biggest losers. Rest assured, they will not bring back Hargeisa. A decision to reverse Hargeisa's current position is next to impossible.

Hargeisa will, obviously, leave no stone unturned to counter Mogadishu's sellout politics. And eventually, I have little doubt that Hargeisa will win, while Mogadishu will be left scramble to keep under its control what is left of Ex-Italian Somalia.

No one ever said it would be as easy as a quiet stroll in the park. The Federal government has got a lot of heavy lifting to do to bring Hargaysa from the cold. For starters, the Federal government must get all its ducks in a row in her immediate vicinity and resolve its differences with its Federal member states. Only a united and functioning Federal institutions could possibly entice or threaten the secessionist administration of Hargaysa back into the political fold.
