STOIC

Paragon, I know my unbridled curiosity would have let me be killed by the deranged Mungiki sect. How about taking a picture of the Kikuyu cult with the dreadlocks :D

I have delayed my trip back home several times, but Insha-Allah this year I am coming home mama Africa.Enjoy your trip bro, and make sure you clear the khat bill for the Esich kids :D

PS Feels like I haven't been here for two months. Its only been few weeks.

Well I hope QL arrived safely in Nairobi. He seemed to enjoy his one day in Dubai on Friday. From the mosque in the afternoon to buying football shirts and abayas (yes abayas) late in the evening with a 'pit stop' in the middle by the Burj Arab.

Mango

Greetings to all from E.Africa. After along and laborious journey to the heart of E.Africa, Im on the ground atlast and boy does it seem strange after seventeen years or what! I cant seem to get my head around all the chaos and dust that hits you the first time you arrive in alittle neighbourhood known as Eastleigh. The people the ghettoes full of greatr buildings surrounded by mud dirt and people of all sorts running around without a care and minicabs that climb over rubbish moulds that would seem like an accident waiting to happen.

Ah well I guess Im not used to the idea of it all. The good news is that I have seen some of my beloved folks and family. They are fine though the number of years I have been away have somehow managed to take their toll. Still a very happy and heart warming arrival. Im glad Im home.

On my way over here I managed to stop over at Dubai and see the place that gives alot of cities arun for their money interms of investments and design. It was great but the heat makes you sing and sweat. You step out of the shadows at your peril. My first day was spent recovering from my jetlag so I managed to catch some sleep and tried to walk around old Dubai which happens to be the centre of the Gold market. I was suprised by the sudden surge in number of people coming out at night to shop and socialise. All over the place are little corridors and paths that are full of people either negotiating deals or trying to make useless conversations to make them forget about the heat that is out there once one steps out of the AC range.

My second day was pretty kool. My great brother Northerner came to my rescue and managed to show me most of Dubais cosmopolitan affluent areas. Dubai somehow prides itself to do anything to the extreme and includes the first mall with a ski resort with all the trimmings of resorts in the same mould as in Switzerland with exception of being indoors rather than outdoors. We managed to see the great malls and different suuqs and they all had some amazing features. We travelled in style as Northerner only drove the best of four wheelers which was like travelling first class. I had agreat tour thanks to Northerner who Im sure at the end of the night had lost a few pounds due to the beat on the streets of Dubai. I thank you for an amazing day and ofcouse all your help:)

17 years? Were you chased away during those opposition days along with Koigi wa Wamwere & his likes? LOL., but I just realized 1990 is not that far away, It looks like you followed the first wave of Walendos :D

Anyway, enjoy yourself & trust me before you know, you will be craving for that dust.

Theres an electronics shop right between Kimathi street & Kenyatta avenue that sells all sorts of electronic stuff @ an affordable price. If you dont spot that one, go to the downtown super Nakumatt(Also on Kenyatta Ave)on the first floor next to the curio & the boutique, there is an internet café that doubles as an electronic store. Thank me by posting pictures. icon_razz.gif

JB,LOL@Worst place.

So,I am guessin you were in Kenya hadaba? Have you seen those guys with white, green & red kurdad(dress) and a white Kofia on the streets of Nairobi? Dancing in circles, beating drums & singing in Kikuyu?(Well cordinated & choreographed dancing) smile.gif

Well,if you have, they are called Wakurinos kowdheh & the kids in the picture on your signature reminds me of those guys. Not because they look like kukuyu but the garb that kid is wearing ,the one on the right horta is just a typical Mkurino. icon_razz.gif

If you think am kidding, ask the sujuus in here or better yet lets ask Paragon & QL to send pictures :D
