  1. I was looking for websites actually. I've seen enough of the Nordstroms, Banana Republic, etc. websites. Just wanted to see if anyone had any fresh suggestions. Scarlet, that abaya is lovely. Didi... I already secured my job--don't need help with that. Thanks.
  2. Have you guys found your outfit for the big day?? I would like to wear a nice dress, but the options are so limited! All the pretty dresses are short  So finals week is just beginning and I won't have time to hit the malls until days before my graduation. Would any of you ladies care to help me find a nice dress/skirt/outfit? I know there are some fashionistas in here, help a sister out!! Thanks
  3. Come on now Opinionated, there's a huge difference between speaking on behalf of the rights of Muslim women and completely trashing the religion. 'Satanic Verses'? Please. She's out to get attention for herself & herself alone. Originally posted by Continental Batchelor: 'I've made people so angry because I'm talking from the inside, from direct knowledge. From direct knowledge of WHAT exactly I want to know, lol. She is one woman w/ her own opinions, as blasphemous as they are. I mean why should we consider her the voice of the 1+ billion Muslims in this world...what makes her so important exactly? Fits right in w/ all the Muslim bashing as of late, she must be pleased. Anyway, I hardly post but this article had me fuming
  4. Wow it looks like I'm in the minority here. Like Lakkad, I'm a shy person, so I tend to avoid the spotlight at all costs! I do plan on getting married in the future, inshallah, but I'm really not interested in having an all out bash. To be honest, I'd rather save my pennies, and have a PHAT house! LOL I'll probably end up having a lunch for the men & a small party for the women. I don't know I'm only 18, so I'm sure I'll change my mind in the future... who knows!
  5. Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm from DC, so there aren't many Somalis around. But when I do come across one, we ALWAYS greet one another. I came to Minnesota, and I learned quickly that not only do you not greet ppl, but they go out of their way to either look you up and down or stare. I don't get that... AT ALL!
