    Cunuuga waad kaa kensatay!

  2. No intellectual in his right mind would even try to have ago....why? Bse Somalis dont listen to reason rather qabiil n if u r not well conversant like the indigenous folks selected to parliament then you have no chance. Going with theories n ofcouse developmental mentally wont wash with them....only die hards as hard as nails can succeed there.

  3. Why the enemy within is destroying us…."We have met the enemy, and he is us." During the past decade, this has become -- not without me asking some very uncomfortable questions about myself and accepting nothing less than some very painful, honest answers -- the cornerstone of my entire outlook. I used to think my people as truly the best human beings that ever walked this earth….through my young eyes I admired and at the same time always wondered why they used to be so selfless and giving. Ever since the war, something so sudden and so bad has happened. A major shift and transformation in attitude for the worse. What used to make us so proud is now scorned and frowned upon. Being nice to one another, knowing you belonged and the security of the fact that there was a Somali somewhere in town, it was a sigh of relief knowing that you wouldn’t die of hunger. It meant that somewhere around the corner was a place you could stay temporarily at no cost and with love and respect. Lately there is a total U turn on what used to be our pride. Folks treat each other with contempt and hate. They ridicule each other and sometimes even convince themselves they are not what they are (Somalis)….though looking in the mirror tends to bring them back to earth with a sudden impact. You can sense that wherever you go, the smell of qabiil emanating from every tea room, the streets shops and in places where you wouldn’t expect it to rare its ugly. The Websites and chartrooms are infested with it and it’s being carried on with style by what you call educated and the young who should know better. What makes it worse is the young generation that fronts it in with such penuche that the future truly doesn’t look so rosy.

I wonder why the attitude of men and women is generally so hostile in our community. I wonder why the term baac madoow sounds so scary to many a man.

I’m fascinated by Giraffes, why are they so gorgeous. Their long necks, the way they walk, there eyes and the way they look at you. Their spotted color coats and their gentleness. Wonder what it feels like to look at the world from up there. It sure reminds me of something so pretty and yet so far.

Why can’t I get that Jewel that shines from afar and yet so apparent…?

  4. Fascinating thank you Macruuf...Im sure this would come in handy when trying to find out about the Somali historical background which so far is unknown. These should be secured and treated as historical discoveries.

By the way How have u been bro?

  5. First of this seems to be a hypothetical question...atleast from my understanding of the question.

    2. Matters of the heart arent easy to deal with...so you have to be in that persons shoes to know what it feels like.

    3. From the little I know about ladies especially this generation. Bad boys are an attraction.

    4. Give ahuman being the benefit of the doubt depending on the crime....

May Allah be the judge too.

  6. I have to say Im pretty disappointed. I cant believe the talent on display and how they lost the plot in the second half. Mind you its probably for the best. Arsenal would probably fire on all cylinders once they know they losing it. Bummmer

  7. Oh my gosh and you come to that conclusion on losing one game and the past?? Common now United where not playing football mate they were there to make sure they broke out players and they sure did a grand job too. Ofcouse not to forget their secret weapon...aka Railey..the ref! 8 bloody penalties as his gifts to United. Damn him!

  8. ROLE OF ELDERS IN EDUCATING THE YOUNG

Somalis across the world had the tradition of viewing the old as wise and encouraging relationships between the old and young which permitted that wisdom to be transferred. Older people were part of the education structures of traditional society. They conveyed over justice, happy occasions (Marriages) and were seen as fair in what they did to balance the life styles amongst the young, old and ofcouse the differing clans. The modernisation and professionalisation of the education sector in developing countries has largely taken place within the frame work of western models which remove the role of educator from the Awoowos and Ayeeyos. Whilst the Ciyaal in the schoolrooms of the developing societies of the world are increasingly estranged from older persons as a source of cultural skills and identity, western societies such as Australia have begun to recruit older persons back into the school room as part of the educational team. Somalis must make the most of its informal structures such as kinship and community in resourcing its development and social survival. The unthinking destruction of local heritage under the banner of universal and global knowledge must now be challenged. We must realize that its only “WE†who can benefit ourselves and the only way is by sticking together and using the little resources we have coupled with local and international education to enhance what we have for the sake of ever lasting history and ofcouse heritage which you have to admit is pretty important looking at the way Jews and Asians survive. They preserve what they have but at the same time excel in other types of education and the two combined are quite good.

Once upon a time elderly people were viewed as the wise and as a key source of social knowledge and wisdom. Modern educational arrangements have largely removed this 'knowledge' status from the indigenous old and transferred the same status onto the formally and, at least from the perspective of local communities, externally trained experts (Caadan who know more about the culture than its people). We now have a situation where the person teaching you doesn’t have a clue of your background and work towards bringing the richness of what you have to his world.

Preserving knowledge of cultural tales and history is an obvious candidate for older persons' contributions to the young. The restricted availability of locally produced reading materials which reflect and incorporate local culture as compared with the greater availability of externally authored and produced materials represents a problem at every level of what’s left of our education system. The presence of wise Awoowos in the classroom willing to transmit Oral tales and history (since we don’t have written material or archives) will not only help children's intellectual processing abilities but serve to retain key cultural values at the forefront of the experience of modern children. We must try to recover what’s left of the Somali written history, anecdotes and tales likes Cigaal shidaad and xawo tako and make sure we never lose them. I hope that our divisions don’t make us lose what has been in existence for many years. Let’s embrace what is good in our heritage and let’s hope too that we can use the new educational system to help us tell our future grandchildren about the past that was once like paradise on earth so we can avoid the present that is disappearing slowly but surely.

  9. I thought this article was kinda humorous in the sense that someone atlast found out what Somalis are good at ...here is a taste of whats to come...

......"He said that the warlords never killed the one thing the Somalis like doing most - talking, talking, and talking. It is the reason, he said, that Somalis in the UK, Sweden, the US, Canada or Nairobi share one thing in common - they all know which places have the cheapest phones, as well as where to find phone booths that are malfunctioning, on which you can talk for one hour to a relative abroad and pay less than a dollar.

The day you go to a city and find Somalis there who don't know where you can make the cheapest call, then you will know that the Somali nation is in crisis, he said. "For now, we are doing very well,"

Here is the whole article by Charles...

    ....Old style Gov.

  11. All the best to the new president. Hope he heals the country as it surely needs a healer.

I hope too that he encourages the somalis (Unspoken heroes) who have worked tirelessly to rebuild a country that has been war ravaged and without a government for more than adecade and yet still is at the cutting of development interms of technology/telecommunications Africa.
