  1. Thanks for the reply! Yes, I remember Che too.

Bronze Age? Yikes. What do you consider the golden ages then? Were you there back then too and changed ur username?

Thanks for the welcome. It feels weird to be back. Like divorcing your first love when you were in your twenties and getting back together in your 60s. He’s old, balding, fat around the middle-but you still remember the good times and what first attracted you to him. Sigh.

I see the most boring forum (ahem politics) finally took over and got rid of all the others.  No offence!

  2. Howdy all,

The corona self isolating times has got me reminiscing and Somalia online somehow got into my mind. It took me several tries to search for my username (I no long used that email) and try maybe 10 different passwords and I finally was able to log in. So many memories! I made this account in 2007 when I started college. It gave me a lot of entertainment when I wanted break from my studies.

I used to go by Femme Fatale and enjoyed the Women and General forum lively discussions at that time. According to my account, my last post was in 2013.

I wonder if folks from that time are around?

I took a quick look to see those I remember and I'm glad some did not change their names: Underdog, Ngonge (wow! some of the greatest posts), Valenteenah and her friend (can't remember the name!), BOB, Macalin/Lakkad, Miskiin Maqruuf Aqiyaar (I remember lots of politics posts), Nuune, Stoic, Johnny B, and many others!

    Say Hi!

If that happened to her on the Tube, I shudder to think what happens on the buses. Where's a Russian with sulphuric acid when you need one?

I was getting more and more pissed off as I was scrolling down and I get to you and literally laugh out loud. :D

  4. Thanks all. I'm still on a high. It took me a year and a half - and I sent it EVERY SINGLE PENNY OF EVERY SINGLE PAYCHECK. No shopping, no vacations, no eating out, NADA! I didn't want to spend years paying off debt and wanted to take advantage of my position as a single gal with no dependents ;)

into more somber one, seems you've just realized real debt starts from now on, house, car, fancy dress.
    ;)

I didn't change it :( Someone doesn't like my happy exclamation.

  5. Sent in the last paycheck to student loans. What a HUGE dead weight off my shoulders! Alhamdulliah.

No more loans of ANY kind for me.

For those in or approaching post-secondary studies - do everything in your power to pay your way through school. Don't borrow a penny if you don't have to. Work yourself to the bone. Take longer to graduate if you have to - it doesn't have to be 4 years (unless specified).

    If only...

Now, how should I treat myself? :D

  6. I love perfume but hate that they are so strong even with one spray. Even if that single spay was into the air and I walk in the mist. I don't like people smelling my scent. I only want someone to smell my scent if they are hugging me. That close.

So I started buying fragrance free body lotions and adding a few sprays of my fav perfumes. Works great. The scent is subtle and all over the body instead of the few place as with perfume/body mist etc.

[Make sure it's fragrance free instead of scent free. Fragrance free means no fragrance of course. But it has an added substance to mask the chemical smell of the lotion ingredients. Scent free smells chemical-ly. Gross.]

  7. lol@Ngonge.

As for Alpha, I said the same thing to myself. But I couldn't help chuckling when reading the words 'morally bankrupt' and 'materialistic' and seeing Kanye as your avatar.

Aaliyah - I did a quick assessment and left when I saw she was fine and had a lot of people helping her. But who knows what justifications were running through those people's minds.

  8. Ok, I have a confession and some guilt. Today I saw a lady on the floor (didn't see her fall). More than ten people rushed to help her. I quickly scanned and saw that she was breathing, able to sit up, no bleeding, and she was talking coherently - so I left! I justified it by saying that I was late for an appointment, she seemed fine, and there were a lot of people helping her - and they had cellphones which I didn't.

I feel really bad now. I KNOW I won't ever reach that stage - but....

  9. Oops, just saw LST's post. This is what I get for skimming.

Broke my heart though. I can, maybe, for just a few seconds, understand if it's an adult - but a child? How does a heart get that cold?

  10.

A disturbing video caught by surveillance cameras shows a 2-year-old girl in China laying in the street bleeding, a victim of a hit and run. Even more shocking is that the toddler was then ignored by at least 18 people, The Telegraph reports.

Video of the incident, which took place Oct. 13, shows pedestrians and vehicles passing by the toddler, named Yueyue, after she was run over outside her family's shop in the Chinese city of Foshan.

The graphic video shows the van driver slightly hesitate before running the girl over.

Not a single person stopped to help the child as she lay bloody on the narrow street. At least 18 people passed by on bikes, in vehicles, or on foot.

Finally, a female trash collector, Chen Xianmei, 58, lifts the girl up and asks people if anyone knows the girl.

The child's mother eventually arrived to claim her, saying the girl's name is Yueyue, The Telegraph reports.

Yueyue remains in critical condition, a nurse told the paper by phone. Earlier, doctors said she had suffered major head injuries and was breathing only with the assistance of a ventilator.
