  1. i believe i look like the typical somali no one has ever confused me with being Ethiopian though we do look alike. i don't know why but i can always recongize a somali..ALWAYS! no matter how light or dark, i guess its the connection we all have! :D

  2. i also believe that SOL is great just the way it is. i agree with pple concern about the immaturity that we will surely experience with the "makeover". besides, we already have a chatroom! all due thanx NUUNE :Dsmile.gif

    seriously! get over it pple!

"Yes, Egyptian were not arabs they were Pharos,"

when u say Pharos i hope you mean blacks. Because they were truly the first "egyptians" before all the intermingling began

just one question, why the hell we care what the origins of arabs are?i could care less infact. And since when did this site became

    ARAB online????

The question am intending to ask here is, Should this woman be allowed to "choose" whether whats in her fetus lives or dies? Should she be given the choice?

    ------------>

no the women should not have the choice of ending her babies life when s it was her who engaged in the act she well knew could result in pregnancy. i think abortion is a cowards choice the easy way out. you should face your mistakes not run from them.

Somalis, I call for ideas of how practically we could renounce and divorce ourselves from this primitive qabiil structure. Just, I would like to open a discussion about it. I have some ideas and thoughts of how but I would like to observe what others think of it. Just a personal reflection and soul searching is needed here. Let us all avoid to be biased and steer clear of prejudices. Let us all use our human rationale, gut feelings, common sense and the god given intellect.

let us open the discussions here ---

i think this is an impossible dream. having said that it would be nice to hear your ideas since i could not think of any.

  6. wonderfully said ameenah! i couldn't agree more. this devastating disorder starts at home in the family. i think media is a big part of it aswell. culture is a factor to because everyone has a different perception of beauty and im glad ours appreciate the big boned ;)

Should we distinguish between mothers who have chosen to be pregnant and mothers who have fallen pregnant by accident?

this is really the only question i could fully understand. great topic by the way just needs more clarification smile.gif

i think we should distinguish btw mothers who got pregnant by "accident" (funny it was an accident when they knew full well the and resualts of hving sex  ) its haram to do so. their is always sympathy for them but they got themselves in that situation.

nomadic princess i understand where your coming from. its distressing to see this lack of support and help from the people who should be giving it the most. I hope they shape up and realize they are the only muslims countries capable of large donations. :(

i see ur point and ur disappointment. But really it will be their own demise. Why do u care so much? i know that might sound selfish but the arabs brought all this on themselves and its up to them to get out of it.

  13. there is a great dependency not only somalis in soamlia but somalis in foreign countries. the latter being more worse. it makes us seem like a pple who cannot standup once given a hand. it is embarrasing, and unproductive. it also hinders our progress in those foerign countries if we are constently barred to welfare.

But the dependency issue is more expected in Somalia, a place were a shilling would be helpful. It is good to give a financial hand to those less fortunate and not a lot of money would be needed due to the currency. But this will build up because they will undoubteldy ask for more. i believe the long term effects of this will be a pple who will are not motivated to get a job and make their own money. A pple who in a sense will become lazy and unworried about their future. a pple who will became handicapped by this dependecy which in turn will handicapp our nation.

it would be nice if some of this money would be used for schools and hospitals and various other forms of infastructure.
