  4. Why dont you tell them the story of Isaac Newton and his atheist freind : Isaac Newton, had invited a scientist-friend of his, a man who professed atheism to dine with him. Seeking to corner his friend with his own arguments, Newton placed a model of the solar system on his table and invited his friend to view it. Upon examining it, Newton’s friend exclaimed, “what a marvellous craftsmanship!” Who fashioned this exquisite model?” Newton replied casually, “This model has no maker, it materialised from nothing.” Disbelief written large on his face, the friend asked, “What do you mean?” To this, Newton smiled and replied, “How can you my friend, insist that this model has to have a maker, while vehemently denying the existence of a divine Creator?”
  5. A Visit from the Messenger (p.b.u.h) by Sr. C. Bedu If Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) visited you Just for a day or two, If he came unexpectedly, I wonder what you would do? Oh I know you would give your nicest room, To such an honored guest, And you would serve him your very best. You would be the very best, 'Cause you're glad to have him there, That serving him in your home Would be a joy without compare. But ... when you see him coming, Would you meet him at the door With your arms outstretched in welcome, To your visitor? Or ... would you have to change your clothes before you let him in? Or hide some magazines and put The Quran where they had been? Would you still watch those movies, Or your TV set? Or would you switch it off, Before he gets upset. Would you turn off the radio, And hope he had not heard? And wish that you did not utter Your last loud hasty word? Would you hide your wordy music, And instead take out Hadith books? Could you let him walk right in, Or would you rush about? And I wonder ... if the Prophet (p.b.u.h) spent, a day or two with you, Would you go on doing the things You always do? Would you go right on and say the things You always say? Would life for you continue As it does from day to day? Would your family conversations, Keep up their usual pace? And would you find it hard each meal, To say a table grace? Would you keep up each and every prayer? Without putting on a frown? And would you always jump up early, For Fajr at dawn? Would you sing the songs you always sing? And read the book you read? And let him know the things on which, Your mind and spirit feed? Would you take the Prophet (p.b.u.h) with you, Everywhere you plan to go? Or, would you maybe change your plans, Just for a day or so? Would you be glad to have him meet, Your very closest friends? Or, would you hope they stay away, Until his visit ends? Would you be glad to have him stay, Forever on and on? Or would you sigh with great relief, When he at last was gone? It might be interesting to know, The things that you would do. If Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), came, To spend some time with you.
  6. Here's a list of things that can be done in one minute (by the permission of Allaah SubHana Wa Ta`ala): In one minute you can recite Soorat al-Faatihah 7 times, reciting rapidly and silently. Some scholars said that the reward for reading al-Faatihah is more than 1400 hasanahs, so if you read it 7 times you will, by the permission of Allaah, gain more than 9800 hasanahs all of that in one minute. In one minute you can recite Soorat al-Ikhlaas (Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad) 20 times, reciting rapidly and silently. Reciting it once is equivalent to one-third of the Quran. If you read it 20 times it is equivalent to reading the Quran 7 times. If you read it 20 times in one minute each day, you will have read it 600 times in one month, and 7200 times in one year, which will be equal in reward to reading the Quran 2400 times. You can read one page of the Book of Allaah in one minute. You can memorize a short aayah of the Book of Allaah in one minute. In one minute you can say "Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahuael-mulk wa lahuael-hamd wa huwa ala kulli shayaein qadeer" (There is no god except Allaah alone with no partner to Him be dominion and praise, and He is Able to do all things) 20 times. The reward for saying this is like freeing 8 slaves for the sake of Allaah from among the sons of Ismail. In one minute you can say "Subhaan Allaahi wa bi hamdihi" (Glory and praise be to Allaah) 100 times. Whoever says that in one day will be forgiven for his sins even if they are like the foam of the sea. In one minute you can say "Subhaan Allaahi wa bi hamdihi Subhaan Allaah il-Azeem (Glory and praise be to Allaah, glory be to Allaah the Almighty) 50 times. These are two phrases which are light on the lips, heavy in the balance and beloved to the Most Merciful, as was narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: When I say "Subhaan Allaah, wal-hamdu Lillah, wa laa ilaah ill-Allaah, wa Allaahu akbar" (Glory be to Allaah, praise be to Allaah, there is no god except Allaah, and Allaah is Most Great), this is more beloved to me than all that the sun rises upon. (Narrated by Muslim). In one minute, you can say all of these words more than 18 times. These words are the most beloved words to Allaah, the best of words, and they weigh heavily in the balance of good deeds, as was narrated in the saheeh ahaadeeth. In one minute you can say, "Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa Billaah" (there is no strength and no power except with Allaah) more than 40 times. This is one of the treasures of Paradise, as was narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim. They are a means of putting up with difficulties and of aiming to achieve great things. In one minute you can say "Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah" approximately 50 times. This is the greatest word, for it is the word of Tawheed, the good word, the word that stands firm. If these are the last words of a person, he will enter Paradise, and there are other reports which indicate how great these words are. In one minute you can say "Subhaan Allaah wa bi hamdih, adada khalqihi, wa ridaa nafsihi, wazinata arshihi, wa midaada kalimaatihi" (Glory and praise be to Allaah, as much as the number of His creation, as much as pleases Him, as much as the weight of His Throne and as much as the ink of His words) more than 15 times. This words bring many more times the reward for other forms of tasbeeh and dhikr, as was reported in saheeh ahaadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). In one minute you can seek the forgiveness of Allaah more than 100 times by saying "Astaghfir-Allaah" (I seek the forgiveness of Allaah). The virtues of seeking forgiveness are no secret, for it is the means of attaining forgiveness and entering Paradise, and it is the means of being granted a good life, increasing onces strength, warding off disasters, making things easier, bringing rain and increasing onces wealth and children. You can say a few brief and concise words in one minute, and Allaah may bring about some good through them that you could never imagine. In one minute you can send blessings on the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) 50 times by saying "Sall-Allaahu alayhi wa sallam" (May Allaah bless him and grant him peace). In return Allaah will send blessings upon you 500 hundred times because one blessing brings ten like it. In one minute you can motivate your heart to give thanks to Allaah, to love Him, to fear Him, to puthope in Him, to long for Him, and thus travel through the stages of uboodiyyah (total enslavement to Allaah). You could do this when you are lying on your bed or walking in the street. In one minute you can read more than two pages of a useful book that is easy to understand. In one minute you can uphold the ties of kinship by calling a relative on the phone. You can raise your hands and recite any dua,you wish from the books of dua, in one minute. You can say salaams to and shake hands with a number of people in one minute You can forbid an evil action in one minute. You can enjoin something good in one minute. You can offer sincere advice to a brother in one minute. You can console someone who is depressed in one minute. You can remove something harmful from the road in one minute. Making the most of one minute motivates you to make the most of other periods that would otherwise be wasted.
  7. "And He it is Who made the night a covering for you, and the sleep a rest, and He made the day to rise up again" (Qur’an 25:47). Certainly sleep is one of the blessings from Allah. At the end of a busy day a person looks forward to sleeping and regaining enough energy for the next day. Sleep is also important for good health and safety reasons. However, studies vary as to how much sleep is enough. Some studies claim 8-10 hours is a requirement for everyone. However, the Prophet Mohammad (saws) used to sleep very few hours in the night and used part of the night for prayer. Recent studies confirm that this may actually be healthier for some people. Sleep is important for health and safety reasons. Lack of sleep can lead to mental illness, relationship problems, absence from work and even traffic accidents. Researchers have found that people with chronic insomnia are more likely than others to develop several kinds of psychiatric problems, and are also likely to make greater use of healthcare services (Yang). Lost productivity due to sleepiness has been estimated to cost the national economy as much as $100 billion annually and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has estimated more than 100,000 auto crashes annually may be fatigue related (Yang). Because of this, some studies claim that 8-10 hours should be required for everyone. However, recent studies have confirmed what the prophet Muhammad did may be healthy for some people. "…the Prophet slept for a part of the night, (See Fateh-al-Bari page 249, Vol. 1), and late in the night, he got up and performed ablution from a hanging water skin, a light (perfect) ablution and stood up for the prayer (Bukhari)." Modern studies show that this may actually be the best advice for many people. In fact, many studies are showing that less sleep or even lack of sleep can be healthier in some cases. A six-year study of more than a million Americans shows that a good night's sleep lasts seven hours. It also showed that people who sleep for eight hours or more tend to die a bit sooner. Study leader Daniel F. Kripke, MD, says,"You really don't have to sleep for eight hours and you don't have to worry about it. It is evidently very safe to sleep only seven, six, or even five hours a night (DeNoon)." Kripke and co-workers analyzed data from an American Cancer Society study conducted between 1982 and 1988. The study gathered information on people's sleep habits and health, and then followed them for six years. Study participants ranged in age from 30 to 102 years, with an average starting age of 57 years for women and 58 years for men. In the study the death risk for people with too much sleep was 34% as compared to only 12% for those who slept 8 hours and only 22% for those who had too little sleep. These findings are similar to those in the dietary realm that show that eating too much food is much more harmful than not eating enough (of course massive extremes such as starvation and not sleeping at all are not included in this discussion). Kripke even noted that, "For 10-hour sleepers, the increased risk of death was about the same as that for moderate obesity." Some studies have even experimented with sleep deprivation to cure depression. Up to 60% of depressed people will show a 30% improvement after just one night awake, according to a review article published in the January 1990 issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry. People who feel the most depressed in the morning and improve later in the day seem to benefit the most from a night without sleep (Yang). However, keeping people up all night is not a long-term solution and researchers often found a relapse in people once they went back to "normal" sleeping hours. Further research showed that one reason staying up all night worked was because sleep inhibits the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) that helps control our metabolism and, indirectly, our levels of energy. An estimated 25% to 35% of depressed patients have low TSH levels. Recent research has shown that while sleep inhibits the release of TSH, staying awake through the night and the early morning hours boosts it. This "new" scientific research is completely in accordance with the habit of the prophet (saws), which was to sleep shortly after Eisha prayer (earlier than most people sleep nowadays), and wake in the very early morning hours (sometimes as early as midnight) again to pray. Ibn 'Abbas said, "The Prophet slept till he snored and then prayed (or probably lay till his breath sounds were heard and then got up and prayed)." Ibn 'Abbas added: "I stayed overnight in the house of my aunt, Maimuna, the Prophet slept for a part of the night, (See Fateh-al-Bari page 249, Vol. 1), and late in the night, he got up and performed ablution from a hanging water skin, a light (perfect) ablution and stood up for the prayer. I, too, performed a similar ablution, then I went and stood on his left. He drew me to his right and prayed as much as Allah wished, and again lay and slept till his breath sounds were heard. " This is similar to the therapy given to depressed patients in Europe who are told to sleep early for a week, awake at midnight and then ease back into a "normal" sleeping schedule by waking a bit later each morning, but no later than sunrise (Yang). If you already feel you don’t have enough sleep you may wonder, though how less sleep can make you feel better. Oftentimes sleep problems are related to sleep quality rather than length of sleep. Things a person can do to improve their sleep quality is: eat at least two hours before bedtime, change to healthier dietary habits, check with a doctor about possible sleep apnea, snoring issues, or TMJ, sleep on your side, avoid alcohol and sedatives, lose weight and find a comfortable mattress. So how do you know how much sleep you need? Many people instinctively feel what is right for them. If you feel great after 7 hours, but feel tired if you get five hours or nine hours then you know that seven is your "ideal sleep" time. However, sleep requirements may also vary with life events. During travel or personal trauma or illness sleep requirements may increase. John McDougal, author of several dietary books, offers a further distinction between people who need more or less sleep. He says in his book The Quick McDougal Cookbook, that healthy people usually need only 5-7 hours of sleep a night. This, in fact may be the reason many people think they need more sleep. Bad dietary habits can cause sleepiness. One such example is the heavy feeling one gets after eating a large meal or the drug-induced state that bread causes in some people. Dr. McDougal says that as long as a person is healthy they should need less than 8-hours of sleep. Medical science seems to be saying that if you need more that 8 hours of sleep you need to work on some dietary issues and strive to need less sleep. Even the prophet (saws) spoke against extremes in sleep deprivation and told men who stayed up all night for days on end praying, that they needed to moderate their habits and also get some sleep.
  8. Business travellers are the target for PalmOne with the launch of a portable GPS-enabled personal digital assistant (PDA) which is intended to guide them around 100,000 towns across 16 European countries. The Tungsten E edition for Europe PDA is loaded with the ViaMichelin GPS navigation pack and is designed to tap into the growing market for mobile navigational devices. Chris Jones, an analyst at research company Canalys, says: “GPS navigation is emerging as one of the most important applications for handhelds. We expect the handheld navigation market to exceed one million units in Europe this year, and it is vital that vendors offer easy-to-use, bundled solutions.” This is what PalmOne claims to have done with its Tungsten E edition for Europe which, unlike many alternative solutions, is not permanently fixed into one vehicle. This product can be moved from company car to hire car, and can also be used by pedestrians. The full-colour device has 32MB of Ram and has expansion slots to enable other mapping systems to be loaded onto the device, in addition to the far-reaching Michelin package. The PDA also comes equipped with voice guidance, to help users reach the target location even easier. PalmOne says the device will be “competitively priced” but exact figures are still to be confirmed.

  10. With the first, public alpha version of the coming release of Visual Studio .NET—christened "Whidbey"—now in the hands of developers, it's time to start thinking about your applications and how they might be affected as you move to this new version. Although the move from version 1.0 to 1.1 of the .NET Framework was trivial and involved mostly bug fixes, performance enhancements, and the integration of previously separate technologies such as the ODBC and Oracle .NET Data Providers, version 2.0 changes the story for data access. It includes a host of new features, some of which may cause you to rethink how data is accessed and manipulated in your applications. In this article, I'll give you a brief rundown of what I see as the most significant new features in ADO.NET and how you might take advantage of them in your implementations. Providing a wider view of data Before delving into the specific features of ADO.NET v2.0, let me preface the discussion by noting that one of the overall design goals of this version was to allow a higher degree of interoperability between data accessed relationally, accessed as XML, and accessed as custom objects. Since these three make up the "ruling triumvirate" in representing data in an application, ADO.NET v2.0 was designed to make it easier for developers to use the appropriate model when desired within and across applications. For example, in applications built using a service-oriented architecture (SOA), persistent business data will often be manipulated relationally; data that represents the process and encapsulates business rules will be manipulated as objects; and message and lookup data that must be serialized for transport will be handled as XML. To present the new features, I've factored them into two broad buckets: the new features that provide this wider view of data and the features that enhance or extend the relational paradigm. Widening the .NET There are two primary new features you'll want to explore in the area of extending your ability to handle data. Let's take a look at each. ObjectSpaces This technology was previewed several years ago at PDC and will now be released in Whidbey. Simply put, ObjectSpaces provides an object-relational mapping layer in the System.Data.ObjectSpaces namespace, which instantiates and populates custom objects from a relational database. This works through XML metadata stored in a mappings file that is passed to the constructor of the ObjectSpace class, which maps relational objects to .NET objects and relational types to .NET types. The programming model supports queries (ObjectQuery) and maintains sets of objects in memory (ObjectSet), access to streams of objects (ObjectReader), and even lazy loading of objects to improve performance (ObjectList and ObjectHolder). Listing A shows an example of how the programming model looks Although in the current release, ObjectSpaces works only with SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server "Yukon" (the release of SQL Server more or less synchronized with the release of Whidbey), this technology will be extended to access other relational stores in the future. ObjectSpaces is ideal when you want to represent your data using a domain model and encapsulate business logic as methods on your custom objects, since it will save you from writing the tiresome code needed to load from and persist your objects to a relational data store. SQLXML and XmlAdapter Although the ADO.NET DataSet has always included the ability to load data as XML and serialize its contents as XML, the translation between the two ways of representing data always included some tension. For example, in order for the XML to load into a DataSet, its schema couldn't be overly complex, and it needed to map well into the relational DataTables of the DataSet. Although DataSet support of XML has been enhanced in version 2 to allow loading of XML with multiple in-line schemas, loading schemas with repeated element names in different namespaces, and loading/serializing directly from DataTable objects, the data must still be relational in nature to work with the DataSet. To overcome this, version 2 includes the System.Xml.XmlAdapter class. This class is analogous to the DataAdapter classes in that it is a liaison between a data source and a representation of the data, but is used to query and load XML from an XML View into an XPathDocument object (called XPathDocument2 in the alpha; however, that will be renamed to XPathDocument before release). XML Views allow relational tables (in SQL Server only) to be mapped to an XML schema via mappings files; they are the core component of the SQLXML 3.0 technology, once provided separately from the .NET Framework but now migrated into ADO.NET v2 (including the ability to bulk-load XML into SQL Server) in the System.Data.SqlXml namespace. Using this approach, you can provide a set of XML Views for your SQL Server data, query the data with the XQuery language using the new XQueryProcessor class and the Fill method of the XmlAdapter, and manipulate the data using the XPathDocument, XPathEditor, XPathNavigator, and XPathChangeNavigator classes. The changes are written to SQL Server by calling the Update method of the XmlAdapter, which relies on the XML View to write the SQL statements to execute using a mappings file. The advantage of this approach is that you can treat your SQL Server data no differently than other XML data stores and can take advantage of the full fidelity of the XML when making changes. Listing B provides a simple example of the programming model. Of course, XML Views simply provide the mapping of the data to and from SQL Server. If you're not using SQL Server, you can still take advantage of the substantial changes to XPathDocument (that will supersede and make obsolete the XmlDocument class) and its related classes to more easily query, navigate, and edit XML that you load from other sources. For example, you can use a new XmlFactory class to create a related set of XmlReader, XmlWriter, and XPathNavigator classes for an XML document. These classes now support the ability to read and write .NET types to and from XML documents. And, of course, performance has improved for reading and writing with XmlTextReader and XmlTextWriter, and when using XSLT.

  17. Microsoft hopes to turn up the heat on its Java rivals with plans for new software that could simplify the creation of heavy-duty Web services applications. The software, code-named Indigo, is the next generation of Microsoft's .Net Web services product. The company is expected to disclose more details at its Professional Developer's Conference in Los Angeles in October. While Microsoft executives have offered scant information on Indigo, people familiar with the company's plans said that the software takes direct aim at IBM, Sun Microsystems, BEA Systems, Oracle and other rivals that sell products based on the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) standard. Microsoft has made inroads into large corporations with its back-end server software. However, J2EE-based systems are still generally favored by such customers for more complex computing jobs, such as running stock exchanges or high-volume Web sites. Indigo is tightly linked to Microsoft's Windows operating system and should update the company's .Net Framework tool for building applications. The tool is the "plumbing" for software needed to run Web services applications--which allow disparate systems to share data--on Windows operating systems. now tell me what do you think ?

  24. mmm..it,s been a while since I posted my last comment..to majoo yes there are some methods for encripting (protecting) your password on the internet but let us first explain to our nomads what Encryption is all about ? well it's a method of coding the information in a file or e-mail message so that if it is intercepted by a third party as it travels over a network it cannot be read. Only the person or persons that have the right type of decoding software can unscramble the message. Encryption is the most effective data security. there r many clever software for prenventing your password such as PGP which is stand for Pretty Good Privacy, for more information about this tool log on to www.pgp.com
