  1. Usually , I try to avoid or not to take sides in tribal conflicts, especially when people of different tribes accuse one another of injustice. Allah Subhana Watala says, " when there is a conflict among to Muslims, reconcile them, and if when of them refuses the justice and keeps the wrong doing, then all together must fight the wrongdoer". As we are all aware, the Lower Shabelle conflicts started in small towns and farms close to number 50 town. Some Hag members have been killed in some area, and later an illegal militia took disproportionate retaliation and captured and burned the whole town. I was among those who condemned, but also I urged the Shabeelaha hoose community of Water maal not to target or force legitimate citizens who have farms there. Last week there were some threads in SOL about the murder of Some members of Somaliland community murdered in Shabeelaha Hoose. These were elderly people who lived their for fifty years. Also brother Moge and others spoke out against the injustices against the people of Lower Shabelle. Even then, I called for reconciliation and understanding among the communities. I thought that these HAG militia will come to their senses and avoid igniting new conflict since they are in charge of the government. Yesterday I attended a news briefing and conference held by the people of Shabeelaha Hoose. In order to sift through the propaganda of the media, especially the war lord media led by Waagacusub, we must state the facts, just the facts. At the end of that conference, I was shocked how massive the atrocities the HAG are committing in Lower Shabelle. Amin Amir, who gives voice for the weak and downtrodden have illustrated many times, but I thought It may have been some how exaggerated. Now I know Amin Amir was correct depicting those crimes. AS a Somali people , we must speak loudly against these new crimes HAg militia are committing in Shabeelaha hoose. There are HAg communities in Jubba area, villages and people, especially G lovers and others. ten or so years ago the juba valley alliance was even running Kismaayo. Those communities are still their, but no one is pushing them out and they, themselves are not trying to take over, because, the Long Foot and others are capable of defending themselves. It seems the HAG is targeting the indefensible. 1- the earlier conflict at the end of last year and the beginning of this year was skirmishes and killings among some border districts in number 50 and Janaale. When I asked a friend of mine who is Hag, he says that the Water maal murdered innocent people inside their farms in order to expel the H.G community. Then the H.G militia went further , not only retaliated for the killing . but burned the whole town and the homes of the opposing clan. Even Cadale, resident SOL , complained the murder of HAg members. Since when a murder of an innocent is a license to grap entire region. 2- In almost all those conflicts, the National Army led by Hag, participated to drive the indigenous people out of their towns. There are no distinction between the Army and the militia, none whatsoever. 3- why would a localized small conflict, mostly confined in # 50 and Janaale became a total land grab?. As we heard from the news, the HAG tribal militia took over Marka, Jnaale, Muuri, Shalanbood, and all surounding villages. How can in this day and age a marauding militia under the banner of the state take a whole region, and pretending like nothing happen. Not only they murdering, but they covering their crimes by claiming to fight terrorists. If Morayan militia is not a terrorist who is?. First they said they were defending their farms , now it is a total occupation of other people's towns , villages and farms. 4- The President didn't speak about about these conflict or tried to stop , other than call for peace. Rather than demand the unconditional withdrawal of the militia , he is hiding behind his tribal agenda. 5- Now you have a whole region expropriated from it's residents and indigenous people , yet HAG leaders are acting like little they took something they owned. Some are even calling themselves leaders of the region and naming ministers. 6- reliable sources say, that it is a well organized plan to take over Shabeelaha Hoose. REmember they could live their like anyone else, but the want to take over. They see indigenous community which doesn't have the material and the manpower of the state to fight back. That doesn't mean the wrong doers and squatters will prevail. Remember Hussein Aideed once ruled Baidoa as the undisputed governor, now you will not see one single HAg claim that region. 7-Other than few members from Puntland the SAHAL community are raising their voice. Some theories even suggest that there were understanding that HAG must support JUBBA and then SAHAL will be quite in the quest to take over Shabeelaha hoose. Where is the Prime minister, how can you watch people who have been expropriated under your nose. 8- this is not a conflict but a the total elimination and subjugation of the people of the shabeelaha hoose. 9- The HAG war and atrocities do not have any limit or moral guidelines. Just yesterday , they killed six women, among them a pregnant women. 10- early this year seven Water Maal elders who participated the Baidoa conference for the formation of the south west states were taken away from their passenger cars and murdered. 10- just last december 2013, a group of HAG from Hiiraan, who were members of the National army trained by Jibouti , attacked the town of Kabxanley in day light and murdered a large number of civilians. Just like number 50 they burned the the whole town. In the light of these Atrocities and looting of the land from the indigenous people by the HAG militia who have no faith or moral code that could stop them from committing these crimes, I am suggesting few steps which may help stop these crimes from going further. 1- The president must unequivocally condemn the crimes of these militia and order them to come back to their original positions before the beginning of the conflict. No one, will accept by your weak pronouncements of calling calm. The leaders of the militia are your allies, a simple phone call will do it. 2- If you do not take these steps, you are abandoning your moral duty to safeguard those who are not unable to defend themselves from the new militia of today. This new phenomenon of invading and land grabbing for political reasons, is becoming the symbol of your government. " soomaalidu waxay tidhaahdaa waxa ugu daran gardaro garab og". Among the HAG militia , your election is becoming a card to kill and loot once again. 3- The United Nations Monitoring group accused your government for transferring weapons from the nations depos to Non military actors mainly the HAG militia, to further their clan agenda. Many Somalis including me, supported the lifting of armed embargo from Somalia , in order to facilitate the rebuilding of the army. In the light of these atrocities and the unchecked crimes of the militia allied with army, most Somalis should rethink the easing of the embargo. 4- Most of as thought that by strengthening the nation's institutions, the grip the tribes have for the power would diminish and the security forces would help the weak. In the light of these atrocities, we no longer trust the tribal militia , masquerading as a national army. The army must be constructed in a national way. 4.5 is the way to go. we reject to give HAG militia the license to kill and steal land from the indigenous people. 5-HAG militia acting as the army must be relocated from the shabeelaha Hoose. 6- We, those who always propagate peace and justice are demanding that the UNisom command should not allow innocent people to be pushed from their land under your watch. We demand the government of Djibouti to stop supporting clan militia from committing these heinous crimes. 7- We ask the United Nations envoy to speak out against these atrocities and the people of Shabeelah Hoose. 8- The Federal Parliament must investigate and speak out against these crimes and demand the removal of the militia from these regions. 9- If Somali National government means a license for HAg to kill, loot and subjugate people , then the people of Shabeelaha Hoose and those who support peace and justice must take a new stand against the government. We thought the Formation of National permanent government was a path to justice and peace, but it is becoming a new way to get rich, maim and subjugate , then we say no to that government. If these things continue, I believe it is the end of the so called Somali Government. I think the people of Somaliland have a case when they see these kind of injustices and and wanton killing of the innocent in southern Somalia. How can you trust and share anything with blood thirsty people. I do believe we must nurture what we have in Somaliland in the meantime and see what comes from these forsaken place.
  2. Well, rather than throw small sentences to judge or condemn me, this time, you put some points of reference that i could refute or accept. On your first, I do not know if you read at all most of my threads, but I am proud Somali, who want great things for his people. I see my people dominating economically and culturally the horn of Africa. In order to reach that milestone, not only we have to change our politics, but our behaviour and the bad habits that undermine progress. wuxuu yidhi abwaanku " Waxay na badeen, waxaa ka sii daran , waxay na bareen". While we are generous, heroic ( although by murdering one another we are becoming anti hero), and resilient people, we lack what people call virtues, like, Punctuality, work ethic, patience, and consistency. 2- here , you state that I have never done anything nor intend to do any thing in the future to improve the lives of the Somali Republic. Well, I don't think it is good idea to state all my contributions here in the SOL, but , I contributed and donated almost on all public projects like hospitals, schools, orphanages, public works and relieve issues in Somaliland in general and Awdal in particular. I never miss any relieve issue, Never. I used to participate in the so called community offices who are nothing but self serving useless offices, not any more. Since we are talking hypothetically, You could be one of those. I even tried my hand politically, which may not account much if you don't succeed, but, I could state that i was one of the founders of the Hiil_Qaran party. 3- My children are Somali-Canadian. They speak the Somali language fluently, they visit back home once in a while and are well aware of their background and their Canadian surroundings. They perform their prayers, they contribute to their communities and have great concern for the Somali people everywhere . Integrating with your communities doesn't mean assimilation. If you look today's technologie, information highways and constant bombardment of so many conflicting information, these kids have a lot to deal, yet I never take credit of their success, because Allah guides people, and I am grateful that they are God fearing decent kids in this tough environment. At the same time they are proud Canadians too. 4- Now , the genies Apophis couldn't grasp the meaning of that simple sentence regarding the monkeys. Since your kind (Atheists) do not believe that Allah the all mighty, created Adam and Eve,for the creation of humanity, I thought you believed that the Darwinian theory of evolution where humans originate from Ape ( monkey). 5- Finally, I do think there is what we call cultures and conquest. Human beings are on the move, those who are technologically and culturally advanced conquer and replace the weak and the less advanced, especially the opposite cultures. Did you hear lately in the news about the Cremia territory that Russia annexed from Ukrain, well it was the home of Muslim Tatars who once conquered Baghdad. I do have a great respect for the Canadian Aboriginals, but, regardless of their ancestors, I just consider them as one of the multi ethnic groups living in this country. Further more, putting sentimentals aside, I totally disagree with their constant opposition to resource development. That is why I am neither a socialist, nor the so called greens who worry about polar bears. I want my community to have jobs and opportunity , not for Dolphins or polar bears. Worrying about the Indians of nineteen centuries and the actions of the conquerors of that era is a good way to entice young minds and activists to do do good deeds on earth. When you are a middle aged man who must feed his family, you just deal with today's reality. When You had stake in the world , certain sentimentals do disappear. Finally, if you had the opportunity to live in that era, you would have been among the conquerors. It was a jungle, the fittest could only survive. Any way deep down , I think you may not like people of faith coming together and cooperating for the common good.
  3. Of course I am grateful. Just state which statement you are opposed, rather resort to name calling, Besides false pride is useless. you must backed up with deeds. I remember , when I came to Canada long time ago. I struggled like everyone else. A friend told me to go the welfare office, which is where everyone will guide you. When I went to the office, I felt like someone out of place. When I looked people standing in the lineup, what I saw was, Long haired hippies, deshaffled white people and people I thought who represented the worst of Canada were there. I stayed few minutes and I left. Never looked back. It is not my intention to put down those who are in need. The term " the moral foundation of backward society" was a title of a book written by an american sociologist, who in nineteen fifties, was comparing the behaviour of two cities. one was a small agricultural town in Kansas, the other , also a town in Calabria region of Italy. since I read the book almost about 15 years ago , the Kansas community was cooperating to fix their problems. The womens were fund raising for the local hospital, the fire fighters were all volunteers and it looked a real community. In Italian town, everyone was worrying about what they called " La miseria", the constant poverty and how to get out without ant community involvement. He even checked the Sunday church basket and there were no donations, yet they also always talk about " la familia". The land lords exploit the poor as much as possible and those who made better life will abuse the rest. To make the story short, I compared some of the Somali cultures about " la familia" without contributing the larger community. It is easy to find a guy or woman who is spending tens of thousands of dollars to take on of their family member to a foreign hospital for a cure, but if you ask them to donate one hundred dollars for the local hospital, they may not pay. It is easy to find a group of neighbors with big villas and expensive cars , but there will be dust roads and potholes in front of their big houses. Dadkan iskama jabin mar qudha ee waa wax soo jiitamayey. We want to fix it by talking about it. Maybe you don't belong anymore or " meel bugta miyaan taabanayaa". Apophis, I am not sophisticated like those of you who think that humans came from a monkey, so state your case clearly.
  4. I know her father Ahmed Naaleeye, he lives here. He retired from the social services department after almost thirty years of service and helped a lot of Somalis on the way, especially newcomers. It looks she is following a family tradition.
  5. Here you have people executed within minutes after they were apprehended. No court or Coofle, this is really shocking. Ilaahay ha u naxariisto dadkan xaqdarada lagu laayey. Cidii kuwan u gacan gasha Ilaahay ha u sahlo. A Somali sheekh describing the "khawaariij" inside Somalia was talking about a small group of these guys who had a meeting in a room. He said in order to justify the murder and oppression of the other Muslims, they said " If you take a box of sugar or salt and mark the the sugar one as a salt or the salt one as a sugar, it does not became a it's original content, so, people may pronounce or claim to be Muslims, but just the salt which pretend to be sugar , they will not be Muslims. Just like that a small group of gangs can decide the faith of the entire people. THey told us about these guys long time ago but we don't listen to others
  6. Saalax, jufadaada iyo ta bari mawaxa u dhexeeya xariiq cagaaran mise mid cad.
  7. good teams are losing because of bad couches. Here , the England manager kept keeping Steven Gerard, the guy who cost Liverpool the premier league cup. He is tired and immobile. his two errors cost the team. Then , luckily they tied the game. rather than keep the precious point, defend, and prepare a game of life and death against Costa Rico, he attacked desperately, went for the win which make his men in attack mood. same with the Spanish manager, who kept a louise goalie in the game.
  8. I think he is a dead ender. His mother, sister and his family are still in calgary. Why not care at least the well being of your family. his family went through a lot of hardship to bring them in Canada. Why denounce Canada or burn the passport of a nation which fed you and gave shelter to your family.Rather than get education or contribute for his family, he is joining a conflict between a dictator and his opponents which he doesn't know much about. It shows how selfish and publicity seeking he is. People like him destroyed the reputation of the Assad opposition. When the world sees this ruthless brainwashed freelancers, they will agree with Asad that he is fighting Wahabi terrorists who are Al-qaeda. The Bigger Issue is, These Arabs are despotic in nature. If they believe a marauding masked gunman will advance Islam, they are crazy. The Islamic tradition is that Our Faith is a strong river flowing through prescribed channels. That strong river is the larger Ummah not the sects or groups identifying themselves with names like Wahabi, Islaax, Ictizaam, Taliban or even Tabliiq. Just like the river throws excess and other extra elements in his banks when it is full, these groups will appear in different forms with the zeal to destroy or oppress, but the " Mulim Jamee'a" or the main stream will always flourish.
  9. Kheyr, the intension my thread wasn't about ballot box or democracy, but the moral foundation of backward people , which is jealousy and unhealthy competing interests. Failed people and nations always blame someone else for their conditions. The thread showed how far Somalis would take small disagreements. The Afghans you are talking about have been killing one another for thirty years. Now atleast they have a chance to move forward regardless of the conflict. "Allah doesn't change the condition of the people unless they change what is in their Hearts". Wuxuu yidhi " ninkii dhalaalayaba ninbaa dhoobada ugu jira". Everyone of us want to shine without lifting the heavy load and dirtying our hands. By the way elections and selecting leaders by ballot box is a an Islamic tradition, which neither the Saudis nor other Islamic scholars of history would address. Just before Umar Binul Khataab(RA), passed away, he convened the most important "asaxaaba", of his time, especially those the Jannah has been promised by Allah " the Ashara Mubashireen", to discuss his successor. He selected six men, among them, Xudayfa binu Yamaan, Cisman Binu cafaan, Ali Binu Abi Tali, and C/rahman Binu cowf. He said the leader of the Ummah must be selected among these six. He told his son Abdurahman, " if they become tie, you must break the tie, and you must vote which ever way Abdurahman binu Cowf votes". " They must be sequestrated ( just like the way juries are sequestrated here in the west), and within certain time they must choose the leader". " after the verdict is announced, who ever opposes must be prosecuted and condemned". That was how Cismaan Binu Cafaan was selected. During the American election of 2000, there was a huge debate and disagreement in the state of Florida. After long protracted legal and political maneuvering, the decision and the case was put in front of the UNited State Supreme Court. After deliberations, they declared George Bush, the winner. Al Gore, the vice president of USA and the other contestant, held a press conference after the verdict. He said " I disagree with verdict of the supreme court judges, but I accept". At that moment , if he said I reject the verdict, he would have been arrested and charged with contempt of court. That was the tradition of Umar Binu Khattab. Also , when somebody is condemned to death penalty in America, before he is executed, members of the media, victims of the murderer, his family, the state prosecutors, the government and selected members of the public must be present. Then, they will put him the lethal injection in his veins. THe Islamic tradition says when you kill people or even animals , you must use a swift and humane way in order for them not to feel less pain as possible. also the public must know. by doing these the American justice system is following that tradition. Now, THe Taliban and others bring the condemned to the soccer stadium, force people to fill up the stands and then shoot him/her with AK47. Most of those brought to be executed in public are poor helpless people or women accused of adultery. Which one is the Sunnah. Rather than bite the hand that feeds you or put down the land you are calling home at the moment , learn and copy it's strengths , and avoid their weaknesses. What I have seen in our culture, Somalis do not like people giving compliments or even praising someone. I bet if someone talks about the goodness of the societies that we live, you will immediately called self hating or worse. Homunculus, I may have been harsh to them, but when I look the logic of Somalia been divided by useless reasons, it will reflect in the bigger world. That is why I will never accept small family of Somalia divide in two or more quarreling tribal states , infiltrated by masked Saudi inspired nihilistic movements. Finally , by working hard and producing like the Germans, the small petty quarrels and the scarcity of the small meagre resources that we are fighting to gain may became abundant. That was the moral of the story.
  10. That is why it's called team sport. They do not have the toughness while been calm in the field and always they lack organizational skill. The culture and way of life of your society will reflect in the field. In Cameroon, I was watching a gut who want drible two guys in front of the goal three four times while his teammate is waiting beside him. even Ivory Coast had many injuries and cramps due to lack of preparation. you can't lose three guys with small injuries and expect to win .
  11. There were 300 families of three different back ground. one hundred Somalis, 100 Saudis and 100 Germans. All Muslims. They were put in a tough landscape where people must survive and build their communities in that new land. THey were told there were no were to return. Immediately, the Somalis tried to find out if there is a way out of this difficult situation. One of them even suggested to bribe the project manager. The Saudis were still debating who should be the Amir of the group. One of them said he was a member of the Royal family , so he should be the leader, while another one said he was among the descendants of the prophet( may peace be upon him), but they finally agreed and chose a radical sheikh. The Germans started working on the land. After a while the community became one and all worked together for food, water and shelter. Everything was working well for a while. Since life skill and survival is the foundation of the progress and the well being of the community, those with know how, became the most important ones. The Germans quickly became the leaders of the community. Somalis seemed to be adopting and learning from Germans the skills needed to survive. The Saudis too are contributing and are working on the agricultural and home building. the big difference is the Saudis accepted this tough life but, do not want look to the future or or even work for the long term program. THe Somalis think they are smarter than both of these guys. They contribute, but each family is also working for his next exit or where to move next. The Germans work and live like there is no other place in the world but this barren land. As in any other communities who share life , conflicts arise. The Germans are working hard as usual , but lack the human interaction that is essential in the Somalia and Saudi culture. Also, they are like a clock when it comes to time and tasks, which put great collision between them and Somalis. further more, they were becoming richer and influential. They have better houses with clean water and other amenities. The Somalis and Saudis became very jealous. All these quarrels were minor until the big conflict was instigated by a Somali from Mudug region. While both communities were unhappy about these Germans and their prosparity , the Somali suggested to the Saudis that the best way to punish the Germans were to furnish a Fatwa ( a religious edict). The Sheikh accused the Germans of failing to adhere to basic Islamic tenets. The Germans said " we pray five times, we pay the Zakat, and we contribute on our part of commitment we took. The Saudi sheikh said that " your women are working along side you, their dress code is not up to the level desired by us and you emphasize more about this worldly life than the hereafter, and last but not the least, you practice racism and other un islamic behaviour. The Germans debated, but finally decided to part ways from these group and have their own community separate from the rest. The Somalis debated too. Since they do not have a leader, they became three groups. The First group said that the Germans were wronged and must be helped. " they do most of the work and are fulfilling their commitment , so, we should ally ourselves with them". The second group led by a guy from Mogadishu, said " we should support the Saudi sheikh, after all they are the guardians of the faith and their judgement is final, besides we too are Arabs and share a lot with Saudis". The third group of Somalis must decide the balance of the community since these two groups are deadlocked. The third group led by a guy from Hargeisa said " I will not add my voice to neither side, but I have the solution", " We are neither Saudi nor German, so we should set up our own camp, separate from the Germans, saudis, amd and the two Somali groups. After a while, everyone came to their senses and agreed to resolve. Since war and bloodshed will not resolve anything, they all agreed to use the ballot box to resolve the issue. once again the biggest obstacle came from Somalis. Both the Germans and Saudis agreed that before any vote takes place, the three Somali groups must come together so we could be three equal groups. while the debate among the Somalis were going, the exile period was over and all were told to leave.
  12. Nin yaaban, I thought you were joking when you said Mexico. They really play good. tied with Brazil and may be passed to the first round
  13. OH, I forgot to add I have never seen any where in the world where a national tv will Procrustes 3 hours of talk. waxay muujinaysaa shaqo la'aan iyo in aysan shaqo u oolin. waa ini sheekaysanaya. fadhi ku dirir.
  14. Al-shabaab has no purpose other than mayhem and destruction. The Kenyan President is probably right. You can't go over hundred mile deep inside Lamu county, with over fifty fighters, kill as many as forty destroy property, burn stations and disappear to the next forest, then, come back a day later and repeat the same thing. That is impossible. There are more unknown things going their. Shabab , the enemy of Somalia don't want to miss any thing that puts Somalis a bad light.
  15. No, the meagre resources can't sustain federal structure. What we need to do eliminate this top heavy bureaucracy and Socialism style ministries. let the regions collect taxes, elect their governors and provide the services in their towns and villages. What would a ministry of public works do if they do not build ant thing. How about Wasaarada xidhiidhka golayaasha, warshadaha, qorshaynta, beeraha, dalxiiska and so mon. They all have huge buildings in Hargeisa with million dollar budget. concentrate water, electricity, food production, health care, education and infrastructure. The rest is tribal patronage.
  16. I think it is good speech, but as Dr, Kenny said walking the walk and flowing these moves could give him credibility. . It could signal a change in terms of enforcement and rejection of tribal loyalty. start with Aways and company.
  17. We all know after all these years "qabyaalad" is been nurtured in Hargeisa. Here you have a former cabinet minister in the middle of tribal tirade. "khamiisyo cadcadna way soo xidheen, Salaadi jimcahana way soo tukadeen Qabyaaladna makarafoonka ayey u qaateen". When I was in Hargeisa few years ago , I heard somebody say " sharcigu waa waxaan ka soo dagaalnay". The bigger issue is that certain groups or communities assumed they own the Kulmiye party and the government in general. yes, they have voted for the party, but that doesn't mean they own it. If you look back during Rayaale administration the west Hargeisa guys were 75% of government ministry directors , independent agencies, civil servants and the mi;itaey. one year before the election , they switched loyalty to Kulmiye. When Siilaanyo became the president, he gave them the most important ministries, like Finance, foreign , industry, education, and planing. If there is a job opening, people from Burco, Borama and Sanaag, can't spend months in Hargeisa to wait for an opening, so, these guys like HAG in Mogadishu, usually gets the government jobs. Through the system, they became the richest. Yet they complaining for more. Even if the leader tries to be just, those who became rich through patronage, will not allow him. When the world bank gave money for local private projects last year 70% of those who got the programs were them, because they were the managers. With all these perks , they still want more. I believe these ministries must be dispersed throughout the country. Take the livestock to Togdheer, agriculture and education to Awdal, fisheries to Berbera and so on. Otherwise , Hargeisa will became like mogadishu, a vacuum that sucks life from the other parts of Somaliland. Another issue in Somaliland is people do not understand the concept of policing and law enforcement. In order to keep Hargeisa for becoming another battle ground of the terrorists, doors must broken at night and suspects must be interrogated. Every where, anti terror raids are done either at down or art night to keep the elements of the surprise. They should know when it comes to rule of law no one is above the law whether your uncle is Ina Biixi or someone else. THey are complaining about the special anti terror unit RRU. these are their boys trying to keep them save, yet they keep talking about " guri nloo dhacay". I do not think President Siilaanyo has the backbone or toughness to enforce the law and tell these guys not tread a dangerous path. Peace. Nabad iyo caano. They crossed the line by attaching private citizen and his business. The good news is, I heard some members of that community denounced this latest action by Ina Xaashi and "Gadhcadayaasha".
  18. If you judge the western cultures by their weaknesses or the influence of the external forces, like hollywood or the pop culture, definitely , you will witness the moral decay and other undesirable aspects. but if you look their institutions, rule of law, openness, transparency and creativity definitely they could be among the top. Imagine if Germans and Japanese were Muslims. They could have been the perfect societies. were Muslims. Their strong work ethics, compassion and ingenuity, combined with moral foundations of Islam , they could have been the best society. Asians are human robots without emotions, and many people will tell you they do not like charity or giving back to society especially here in north America. Turks are showing their tradition and goodness. Great people and cultures always rise up. Look at Japan and Germany , after the destruction of the second world war. they are the top economies, and these things do not come with short cut or weak traditions. remember, things are working okay here because most of the people are playing by the rules, honest and hard working, otherwise it would have collapsed. I am one of those who believe the Anglo-saxon order and rule of law are the top cultures if the moral issues were supplemented with faith.
  19. There is another scenario that same people are throwing around. With overthrow of Saddam america made Iran the undisputed regional power now some American policy makers are trying to reverse that. The biggest mistake was done by Rumsfeld and others by disbanding 400,000 Iraqi national army, and destroying all governmental authorities by trying to eliminate the Baathist section of the regime. Remember most Sunni jihadists are connected to the Saudi kingdom, and there was always strong bond between the Saudis and the American government. Both of them orchestrated the Afghan Mujahideen war of eighties to drive the Soviets from Afghanistan. They both supported the overthrow of Gaddafi and Assad, now these duo may want to teach a lesson to the hardline shiite prime minister Maliki who is supporting Assad and Hezbollah. The Kurds do not mind this new divide, they were only nominally part of Iraq recently, and now is the time for them to curve out their land and declare independent. Americans , sometimes work in a mysterious way. They may even believe this new developments may hasten the downfall of Asad. I believe the gulf countries are on board I do not think the Americans will lift a finger to help the shiite leadership in Iraq. Their main public relations issue is to find a way for a new leadership for this Sunni coalition that is acceptable to world other than the extremist ISIS. THe idea of Shiite majority in Iraq is exaggerated. of course they are the majority among the Arabs, but if you put the Sunnis and other Ethnic minorities, it is hard to tell. if you combine The Arab sunnis, Kurds, christians, Turkmens of the north who number about 3 million others, the shiite are not a majority. THeir population also concentrates on the south side of the country and east of Baghdad. Maliki's hold on power is the main cause. few years ago the parliament deadlocked over six months to form a government. They are the first shia to rule an arab country, so they won't give up anything. Since their are no plural democracy that can make people of different background to co-exist as citizens, Expect this artificial country to disintegrate along sectarian lines.
  20. Ciidan, one thing you are correct about is there is someone behind these mass power. Even in Libya there were radicals and the west supported. maybe USA and Saudi are backing these sunni power. If they become moderates and deal with world in a logical manner maybe they will rule.
  21. Ciidan, of course they provide food and other things for children when they have the upper hand. Al-shabaab used to care too. They distributed food and agricultural aid in the river area, liberated farms occupied by militias and people used to say, " meelaha Shabaabku Joogo waa nabad". When they start losing grounds, people , whether they are women or children, are collateral damage for them. When you researching these kind of groups, do not go far. JUst check their flags and methods. It is identical. Now you want them to burn Karbala and Najaf. That is genocide. Further more, they do not have legitimate leaders, counsel or any credible figure to deal with. Their leaders are just like Ahmed Godane and the crazy Boko haram leader. The shiite , on the other hand have imams and leaders whom people listen to both in times of peace and war. AS Dr. Kenney said , these are artificial countries that can't sustain or endure any longer. Ali binu abi dalib,( ridiyalaahu canhu), said " Iraq is the land of the Fitnah and tribulations".
  22. The Sunnis are disgruntled by the way the ruling Shiite treated them in Iraq, and wanted a change in Syria. This group is mainly riding the popular sunni wave. The main problem is this black flag carrying extremists share both ideology and method with likes of Al-shabaab and Boka Haram. They will not bring Islam or peace, but will destroy whatever they touch. In the video and other material they are calling not only Assad's army Kuffar, but they are willing to kill every Shiite they encounter. During the war between Iraq and Iran, these kind of groups and their literature was every where. They are trying to set up a Wahabi doctrine state by force. Islam is a religion of consensus and consultation. Alah Subhaanahu wataaala says " La Ikraha Fi deen ". Faith can't be forced to people. The major significant outcome of these advance is, this group eliminated the colonial borders set by Britain and France almost a century ago.
  23. Ah, the age of innocence. even as early as 1981, you couldn't tell that the city belonged to one group or another. It was a great mix of Somalis. a Metropolis. The guy from Cadale and Dhuusamareeb igama xigo Mogadishu.
  24. Looks like you're Liverpool guy and suarez fan
  25. My first world cup was 1982. I was in Djibouti for a vocation at the time and, for the first in my life I watched a live football game from a television. In that year , some of best players in the world who left behind a great legacy in the history of the game were present. Diego Maradona of Argentina, Zico, falcao and socrates of Brazil; the Italian team was dominated players from Juventus who were half of the team . Among the noted Italians were Paolo Rossi, Bruno conti, cabrini and Gentile ( the guy who made so many fouls against Maradona). The French were led by Michel Platini and two black players Tigana and Trezor. The Germans were led by Rommeninge and Lothar matthaus. For the first time African teams performed well against the big teams like Germany and Italy. The first and my only world cup game that I watched in the stands was the 1990 world cup in Italy. As I was sipping a caffe latte at the Rome's train station with some of my friends, a big bus with colors of Cameron parked outside the bus stands. A couple of guys from the Cameroonian embassy came and asked us if we were interested in watching the quarter final game between England and Cameroon and support the African team We said of course and boarded the bus all the way to Napoli were the game was played. As soon as we reached the stadium, there were police and Italian Carabinieri every where. The infamous English soccer hooligans were roaming around the stadium. Because of their violent nature and drunken stupors, security was high. We proceeded to one of the gates where the Cameroonian officials were distributing passes to enter the stadium. As it turned out the number of passes and those in the bus were insufficient. people moved , pushed and shoved one another to get the tickets. After all is said and done, some how , we the Somalis, Eritreans and Ethiopians were the ones without tickets. It was the first time I witnessed the African racism . Those from the horn of Africa were left behind. Some of us fought with the Cameroonians and the police intervened. We explained our plight to the Italians , and how far we came all the way from Rome and ended up here at the gate without a ticket. THey told us to wait. After the game started , or about ten minutes in the first half, the good Italians let us in. We entered San Paolo stadium and ended up seating beside those awful Africans. At that moment , my support for Cameroon evaporated, so I just became a neutral soccer fan watching a world cup match. Some of my friends even applauded for England. The biggest memory of that game apart from the ticket issue was the last few minutes of the game. It was 84th minute and Cameroon was leading 2 to 1. Almost everybody was anticipating the history in the making of an African team reaching for the Semi final of the world cup for the first time. The opening game of the world cup 1990 was between Cameroon and defending champion Argentina, and the indomitable lions defeated Maradona. Not only were they beating teams, they were playing an entertaining open football, which eventually cost them. In that game they dominated until the end. they could have scored more than three or four. When you are winning your biggest game of your life time , and few minutes are left to the finish, you must change your strategy. First you pull out a forward and bring in a defenceman, second you delay the game as much as possible, third make light smart fouls to frustrate the forwards and those who are attaching, without making huge costly fouls. Last but not the least, throw the ball to the stands. The Cameroonians gave up a penalty just six minutes before the end and after that lost all their concentration and calmness. Rather lick their wounds and wait for the end of regulation to regroup and win the game they deserved to win, they all went for attack like a desperate team trying to equalize for the final minute. I could see the English forward Gary lineker at the middle half line separating the teams, beside the last man of the defence, the full back. everyone else went ahead to score goal and play on the English side of the pitch. When the ball was passed no one was close, so some body have to stop and the last guy to foul him was the goalkeeper. They gave England the penalty and the game was over. 3 to 2, they lost the game and every thing crushed. when we entered the bus everyone was quite. Since we fought some of them before we entered the game , a Cameroonian Embassy lady , threatened to do something about us before our destination. They could have done serious damage to us, but since this was Italy not Cameroon, , so we reached Rome safely. During my stay in Italy I took some coaching lessons although not licensed. so , when I watch games, I do not pay attention to the flashy forward or those scoring goals, but the midfield where games are lost or won. They will allow your defence to come forward and push, rather than overwhelmed by forwards. Finally, to win the cup you need more than talented players or good goal scoring forwards. History, culture, attitude, and style of play are all factors that influence the victory. More than anything else, a united team or a team who play for the bigger goal, like Germans will always win. Dysfunctional teams, like a dysfunctional families my survive the first rounds, but will not win the big price. Countries, like Mexico, Nigeria, Egypt, or Russia will never win the cup. The United States has more chance than those to win. The Dutch and the French, who have shown constant quarrel among the couches and the players will not win the cup. Deschamp, the French couch, even left Samir Nasri of the Premier league champions Manchester City from the French national team. In the final stage , it is all about controlling your emotions and punishing the other team on their mistakes. There will be always drama and unforeseen surprises, especially , on high pressure games. Remember, David Beckem getting red card or Zinedine Zidane, head butting Italian midfielder Mattrazzi at the final of 2006, world cup. Some said he called him " figlio di buttana", or something else, the bottom line was, that action by Zidane cost his team a very important player and the inability to kick the final penalties of the game. Also teams who are organized and follow the field tactic not the technical aspect of the game will go a long way. African players of today are flashy with egos or they may not play 100%. They try to avoid injuries in order to play for their main club teams. They could be a cinderella story or a dark horse, but do not bet on them on the big price. Serious nation win the cup. For example, the Italian team is couched by sixty million Italians. Everyone expected them to win or reach the last four. Every move the couches make are scrutinized. Ant way , this could be a big challenge between Ronaldo, the UEFA champion against Messi, the genies who have never won anything with Argentina national team. This time it could be Argentina.
