  1. It says I've a friend request yet I can't access it. Looks like the forum doesn't like me. Jacaylbaro;742873 wrote: Beer as "Liver" or the real Beer ? Halal beer!

Som@li;742854 wrote: Somali families who are concerned can send a male family member and be with her at uni, Have seen many Saudis here who are for higher education, and all of them have a family male member with them. This advice reminds me of the story of Sufiah Yusof, who had to run away from Oxford where as a student she was accompanied by her ultra-religious father. She turned a prostitute later in effect. She was still a child when she attended the university and an adult companion had to be there, of course, but it might well illustrate how ultra-religious parenthood can ruin things in that respect.

  4. The tone of your title is unnecessarily insulting. The clip is from the film 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes', which was released last month. It's about chimpanzees gaining human level intelligence after scientist's attempt to cure Alzheimer's disease goes wrong.

  9. Interesting. I don't think I like the part where he's said to have offered starving refugees money in turn for them to become Christians.

  13. 1) You are insensitive to the feelings of forum members who are muslims and in the month of Ramadan. By saying things offensive to them, you are intentionally trying to provoke them. This is not vilification as I said before, but you are harrassing them. I don't think my skepticism towards claims to be the fastest-growing religion should really offend anyone. If you're referring to my insistence on the supplement of evidence for the claim by means of citation of research in which it's shown, then honestly that wasn't meant to be a harassment; it was more of a reaction to the identical demand towards my suggestion that this claim is admittedly popular across all faiths. As for your label of me as the amateurish son of Raamsade, don't patronise me please.
  14. Abtigiis;741616 wrote: And what I don't like people like Raamsade, a.k.a Garnaqsi is they have a mission of vilifying one faith just because they don't subscribe to it. They are intolerant lot who curiously preach tolerance. I suggest you refrain from making mindless accusations. I'm not vilifying any religion. I don't understand how anyone could reasonably conclude this from what I've written. I'm not Raamsade - nor do I, in fact, happen to know anyone by that name. Feel free not to believe me, of course. I'm in no way preaching intolerance. Could you quote the statement which you feel was preaching such a thing?

You asked him a question; he answered it. I don't get why it was necessary for you to get all rude on him. btw, are you yourself hiding something? come out of the closet? You sound like poor paranoid man I saw, who lives in isolation thinking some Somalis will carry beheading on him for leaving religion? If he was afraid of being beheaded for apostasy, he probably wouldn't have told you that he's Christian that easily, don't you think?

By the look of things, you actually appear to care about it more than anyone else in this thread seems to. I mean, the guy professed to you that he's Christian and you basically told him that he is a loser who is going to Hell. I would say that is more than giving care.

Taleexi;741475 wrote: I still stand by that this can be refuted and without presenting, on my part, something that is statistically significant after the confidence constraints of our model are mutually agreed - my position will not hold water so, does your counter argument which is exactly as guilt of as mine. What's my counter argument here? I'm merely being skeptic. I'm not claiming that Islam isn't the fastest growing religion; nor am I reserving that distinction for any other religion or theological standpoint. I just don't see any convincing argument for it - and the same goes for all the other religions that claim the same thing. So I'm not holding a position that requires statistical back up of any sorts, unlike you. Besides, as you now acknowledge the difficulty of getting universal scientific consensus on these matters, which gives any faith a gap for 'misleading/deceptive publicity', perhaps my earlier suggestion of taking care with this issue was telling. With that said: I will narrow the scope of my previous claim in terms of the geographical area considered - let us consider in the US, there are number of surveys done for the last ten years and those studies show that the number of non-Muslim converterions increasing exponentially in relation to the demographic shifts in other faiths. This may not still validate my stand but shed some light on it for further discussion. Studies also show a high increase in the number of people who adhere to no religion in the United States. See this study, for example. This group gained more than a million a year on average for the last two decades. If Islam beats that, I would be truly impressed. At the moment, I'm unable to get hold of any statistics pertaining the number of people who convert to Islam each year in the US. Perhaps you could help us here and refer us to the surveys you are alluding to so that we could get basis for comparison.
  21. Hello, guys! Sometimes when I submit a post I'm getting told that my post is in a queue for moderation approval or something alone those lines and the post doesn't seem to appear. In fact, I made two or three posts yesterday which never appeared. Is this normal?
  22. Taleexi;741456 wrote: Garnaqsi: My claim is open to any credible rebuttle - Nothing is written in stone. Many religious pundits penned down many researchs regarding this......... In my view nothing is 100% in life but the below link may further our discussion. http://www.stanford.edu/~jamila/islam-misunderstood.html The writer of that article did exactly what you have done: make a claim without providing any support for it. I've no idea what basis he has for Islam being 'easily the world's fastest growing religion.' If I don't object to him making this claim without providing any studies in which this is shown, my earlier objection to you would become biased one in hindsight. Perhaps providing citations of studies was not necessary in the context in which article was written, but I'm afraid it doesn't get our discussion anywhere as it stands, Taleexi.

But,i will make it easier on him and cite the same source as you... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam :) It says Islam is 'one of the fastest-growing religions in the world.' I've no problem with that at all!
  24. Faarax-Brawn;741442 wrote: Wikipedia is not a credible source. Do you have any other source to debunk his claim? I wasn't debunking his claim. I was merely pointing out that many of today's religions make the same claim, and Wikipedia does good enough job for doing that. If you feel something is not right in there, then check the provided sources and citations yourself... On the other hand, now that you speak of sources, I'm wondering what studies (if any) he was relying on when making that claim.
